    Abstract: A laser scanner is provided with a transmission optic (20) whose laser pencil beam (18) is oriented coaxially with the axis of rotation (28) of a deflecting mirror (22, 24) and coaxially with the optical axis of the associated detector optic (58). The arrangement is such that light reflected by a distant measuring point (44) can be deflected by the deflecting mirror (22, 24) through the detector optic (58) to a signal detector.
