A User Equipment (UE) detects a type of an uplink (UL) grant while it is periodically allocated the UL grant. If there is no data to transmit using the UL grant, the UE determines whether to transmit a padding Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Unit (PDU) to an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) Node B (eNB) using the UL grant according to the type of the UL grant.

The method for radio communication with a base station, by a UE, includes identifying whether an uplink resource for data to be transmitted to the base station is available, when a buffer status report to be transmitted to the base station is triggered; transmitting an uplink packet including the buffer status report using the uplink resource, in response to the uplink resource being available; and transmitting a scheduling request to the base station, in response to the uplink resource not being available for a predetermined time duration, wherein the scheduling request is used for requesting an uplink resource for the buffer status report.

According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the method by which a terminal receives broadcast information in a communication system comprises the steps of: receiving a plurality of radio frames from a base station; extracting at least one broadcasting channel signal from the plurality of radio frames in every set period; combining, for a preset time slot, the at least one broadcasting channel signal extracted in every set period; and acquiring broadcast information by decoding the combined broadcasting channel signal.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for feeding back channel quality information and performing scheduling using the fed-back channel quality information in a wireless communication system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA). In the OFDMA wireless communication system, forward performance degradation due to a decrease in an amount of reverse channel quality information is reduced, and also an increase in the reverse load due to channel quality information feedback is suppressed. A base station controls power of a physical channel using information fed back from a mobile station. In a method for feeding back channel quality information from the mobile station, sub-band-by-sub-band channel quality information is measured and channel-by-channel quality information of a number of channels is transmitted in order of sub-bands of better channel quality information. Average channel quality information for a total band is measured and transmitted.
