    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described Generally, the described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to perform a beam switching operation from a current beam to a target beam based on a beam switching duration. The UE may transmit a capability report that may include an antenna pointing capability, a list of one or more detailed capabilities, or both to another device, such as a network entity (e.g., a satellite). The UE may perform the beam switching operation based on the capability report. The UE may perform a random access procedure as part of a change of association operation. The UE may receive a control message from the other device, which may be the network entity, that includes an identity of a target network entity, one or more resources for the random access procedure, an indication of the beam switching duration, or any combination.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for indicating actual transport block size (TBS) on shaping encoding. For example, in shaping encoding, instead of using a compensated rate code (e.g., by padding or truncating) for a fixed number of output bits that is often different from the TBS scheduled, the present disclosure supports using multiple actual TBS for a given nominal TBS to improve efficiency of the shaping encoder. A transmitter (e.g., a network entity or use equipment (UE)) may encode a payload size of bits with a shaping encoder to obtain a transport block (TB), which has an actual TBS. The actual TBS is selected from a set of TBSs based on a nominal TBS. The transmitter then transmits to a receiver, an indication of the actual TBS. The indication enables the receiver to decode the corresponding encoded bits. The transmitter then transmits the TB to the receiver.

    Abstract: Aspects presented herein may improve the precision and performance of a TDOA-based UE positioning scheme that is associated with an NTN. In one aspect, a UE receives, from a first satellite, a first PRS at a first reception time. The UE receives, from a second satellite, a second PRS at a second reception time and an indication of a transmission-reception time difference, the transmission-reception time difference being a difference between a time the second satellite transmits the second PRS to the UE and a time the second satellite receives an RS from the first satellite. The UE calculates an RSTD for the first PRS and the second PRS based at least in part on the first reception time of the first PRS, the second reception time of the second PRS, and the transmission-reception time difference.
