    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for performing narrowband physical random access channel (PRACH) procedures in large cells. For example, aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for narrowband PRACH procedures (e.g., narrowband internet of things (NB-IoT)) to accommodate larger RTTs (e.g., up to 100 km). In some cases, supporting larger RTTs may involve a base station altering its PRACH processing by performing a two-step process of, first, obtaining a frequency domain phase offset based on an uplink signal from a UE, which provides a fractional delay and, second, performing a time domain correlation for different timing hypotheses to determine a timing offset based on the uplink signal. Supporting larger RTTs may also involve enabling a new NPRACH format that may coexist with legacy 3.75 kHz resources.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications. In some aspects, a wireless communications device may employ different power control loops, associated with different power control reference points, for uplink transmissions that use different uplink waveforms. In some aspects, a wireless communications device may generate and transmit a first type of PHR, associated with a DFT-s-OFDM-based type of uplink transmission, and/or a second type PHR associated with a CP-OFDM-based type of uplink transmission. In some aspects, a wireless communications device may selectively send a HARQ re-transmission using a particular uplink waveform based at least in part on information indicating whether the HARQ re-transmission is permitted to use an uplink waveform that is different from another uplink waveform used for a prior corresponding HARQ transmission or HARQ re-transmission.     Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to random access and uplink (UL)-based mobility are provided. A first wireless communication device transmits a first signal carrying a random access sequence and a data. The first wireless communication device receives a second signal from a second wireless communication device in response to the first signal. For random access, the data in the first signal includes at least one of an identifier of the first wireless communication device or a connection request, and the second signal includes at least one of timing advance information or a contention resolution. For UL-based mobility, the data in the first signal includes at least an identifier of the first wireless communication device, and the second signal includes at least an acknowledgement for the first signal or paging information associated with the first wireless communication device.

    Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for random access based on scalable signature design in wireless communications systems. A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In an aspect, the method may include randomly choosing an array of source symbols, wherein the array has one or more scalable dimensions based on at least one of a capacity requirement or a coverage requirement of a random access channel (RACH), encoding the array of source symbols into a codeword for a RACH signature, mapping the codeword to a serial concatenation of orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal sequences to define the RACH signature, and transmitting the RACH signature within a RACH slot. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) communications technology.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for performing paging and/or random access procedures with multiple physical resource blocks (PRBs) for narrowband (NB) internet-of-things (IoT). In one aspect, a method is provided which may be performed by a base station. The method generally includes determining a first set of resources and a second set of resources available for narrowband communications with one or more first user equipments (UEs) and one or more second UEs. The method also includes allocating the first and second set of resources to one or more of the first UEs and the second UEs based at least in part on a type of the first UEs and a type of the second UEs. The method further includes signaling an indication of the allocation.
