摘要: Provided is a polyvinyl alcohol-based dispersion stabilizer used for suspension polymerization of a vinyl compound. When this dispersion stabilizer is used, it reduces the formation of coarse particles and allows the obtained vinyl polymer to have a sharp particle size distribution, and reduces the amount of scale deposited on a polymerization vessel more than ever before. Also provided is a method of producing this dispersion stabilizer. This dispersion stabilizer is composed of a carbon monoxide-vinyl alcohol copolymer including a constitutional unit derived from carbon monoxide (a CO unit) and a vinyl alcohol unit, and has a content of the CO unit of 0.01 to 8 mol %, a viscosity-average degree of polymerization of 200 to 3500, and a saponification degree of 60 to 90 mol %.

摘要: The electric rotating machine is provided with an intermediate plate having a power circuit connection portion that is connected with an outgoing lead drawn out from a power circuit unit and an armature winding connection portion that is connected with the power circuit connection portion and an outgoing lead drawn out from an armature winding. The power circuit connection portion and the armature winding connection portion are arranged at desired positions and outgoing leads from the armature winding of the stator are drawn out in such a way as to fall within a given space, so that intermediate connection lines for connecting windings can be shortened. Accordingly, not only the breakage of an intermediate connection line caused by a vibration can be prevented, but also the switching elements can separately be arranged so as to reduce thermal interference between the switching elements; therefore, the switching elements can effectively be cooled.

摘要: Consistent with the present disclosure, an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) is provided that includes first inputs and second inputs. Each of the first inputs receives a corresponding one of a plurality of first optical signals, each of which has a corresponding one of a plurality of wavelengths. Second inputs are also provided, such that each second input is preferably provided between two adjacent first inputs. Each of the second inputs receives a corresponding one of a plurality of second optical signals, and each of the second plurality of optical signals has a corresponding one of those wavelengths. Each of the first plurality of optical signals, however, has a first polarization and each of the second plurality of optical signals has a second polarization different than the first polarization. Since the first optical signals are supplied through AWG inputs that are offset from the inputs that receives second optical signals, the first optical signals are supplied at a first AWG output that is spaced from a second AWG output that supplies the second optical signals. The second optical signals are supplied through the second output even though the second optical signals have the same (or substantially the same) wavelengths as the first optical signals. Accordingly, a single AWG may be provided to multiplex both first and second optical signals, thereby simplifying PIC design.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, devices and methods in which optical reflections are reduced in a photonic integrated circuit. These embodiments include reflection suppression elements which operate to dissipate optical energy that would otherwise provide a source for optical reflections which may impact the operation of one or more devices within the photonic integrated circuit. In particular, within photonic integrated circuits incorporating semiconductor optical amplifiers, embodiments of the present invention include reflection suppression elements which operate to dissipate optical energy preventing the semiconductor optical amplifiers from operating in a gain-clamped mode.
