Abstract: An interactive cord includes one or more touch-sensitive areas configured to detect user input and one or more non-touch-sensitive areas. An outer cover of the interactive cord includes a set of conductive lines braided together with one or more of a plurality of non-conductive lines at the touch-sensitive area. The set of conductive lines defines a plurality of intersections that each form a capacitive touchpoint at the touch-sensitive area. An inner core of the interactive cord includes at least the set of conductive lines and at least one of the plurality of non-conductive lines at the non-touch-sensitive area.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems that enable a mobile device-based radar system for applying different power modes to a multi-mode interface. The techniques and systems include a user device having a radar system, and an interaction manager. The radar system generates a radar field, provides radar data, and operates at one of various different radar-power states. The user device analyzes the radar data to detect a presence or movement of a user within the radar field. Responsive to the detection, the radar system changes from a first radar-power state to a second radar-power state. Based on this change, the interaction manager selects a power mode, for a multi-mode interface, that corresponds to the second radar-power state, and applies the selected power mode to the multi-mode interface to provide a corresponding display via a display device.

Abstract: Various embodiments wirelessly detect micro gestures using multiple antenna of a gesture sensor device. At times, the gesture sensor device transmits multiple outgoing radio frequency (RF) signals, each outgoing RF signal transmitted via a respective antenna of the gesture sensor device. The outgoing RF signals are configured to help capture information that can be used to identify micro-gestures performed by a hand. The gesture sensor device captures incoming RF signals generated by the outgoing RF signals reflecting off of the hand, and then analyzes the incoming RF signals to identify the micro-gesture.

Abstract: Systems and methods for interactive textiles including conductive fibers are provided. An interactive textile may comprise a flexible substrate, an embroidered thread-pattern defining an ornamental feature on a first surface of the flexible substrate, and a touch input sensor comprising a set of conductive threads coupled to a second surface of the flexible substrate at a corresponding area of at least a portion of the embroidered thread pattern. The set of conductive threads form a conductive thread-pattern on the second surface that is conformal to the ornamental feature on the first surface at the portion of the embroidered thread pattern.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and devices for occluded gesture recognition. Through use of the techniques and devices described herein, users may control their devices even when a user's gesture is occluded by some material between the user's hands and the device itself. Thus, the techniques enable users to control their mobile devices in many situations in which control is desired but conventional techniques do permit effective control, such as when a user's mobile computing device is occluded by being in a purse, bag, pocket, or even in another room.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems that enable a radar system facilitating ease and accuracy of user interactions with a user interface. The techniques and systems can be implemented in an electronic device, such as a smartphone, and use a radar field to accurately determine three-dimensional (3D) gestures that can be used in combination with other inputs, such as touch or voice inputs, to interact with the user interface. These techniques allow the user to make 3D gestures from a distance and enable seamless integration of touch and voice commands with 3D gestures to improve functionality and user enjoyment.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and devices for a radar recognition-aided search. Through use of a radar-based recognition system, gestures made by, and physiological information about, persons can be determined. In the case of physiological information, the techniques can use this information to refine a search. For example, if a person requests a search for a coffee shop, the techniques may refine the search to coffee shops in the direction that the person is walking. In the case of a gesture, the techniques may refine or base a search solely on the gesture. Thus, a search for information about a store, car, or tree can be made responsive to a gesture pointing at the store, car, or tree with or without explicit entry of a search query.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and devices for non-line-of-sight radar-based gesture recognition. Through use of the techniques and devices described herein, users may control their devices through in-the-air gestures, even when those gestures are not within line-of-sight of their device's sensors. Thus, the techniques enable users to control their devices in many situations in which control is desired but conventional techniques do permit effective control, such as to turn the temperature down in a room when the user is obscured from a thermostat's gesture sensor, turn up the volume on a media player when the user is in a different room than the media player, or pause a television program when the user's gesture is obscured by a chair, couch, or other obstruction.
