    摘要: A display apparatus includes a plurality of pixel regions. Each of the pixel regions includes a first sub-pixel region, a second sub-pixel region and a boost capacitor. The first sub-pixel region and the second sub-pixel region are electrically connected to the boost capacitor. The boost capacitor causes voltages the first and second sub-pixel regions to be at different voltages to increase the viewing angle of the display apparatus. One electrode of the boost capacitor, a coupling electrode, is formed over a storage capacitance line made of an opaque metal such that an additional boost capacitor (Cboost) may be formed without decreasing the aperture ratio of the pixel region. Other features are also provided.

    摘要: In a display apparatus, a first display substrate includes a common electrode to which a common voltage is applied. A second display substrate facing the first display substrate includes a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode. The first and second pixel electrodes formed in one pixel region are spaced apart from and insulated from each other. A first data voltage having a first polarity with reference to the common voltage is applied to the first pixel electrode, and a second data voltage having a second polarity different from the first polarity with reference to the common voltage is applied to the second pixel electrode. Thus, a fringe field is formed between the first and second display substrates and a lateral field is formed in the second display substrate, thereby improving a transmittance and a response speed of the display apparatus.

A common voltage converter converts the first common voltage into a second common voltage of analog type, and outputs the second common voltage to the liquid crystal capacitor. Therefore, in the LCD apparatus operated in an impulsive driving method, a common voltage is selectively applied to the liquid crystal display panel, thus improving a display quality.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display (LCD) with a direction control electrode and a pixel electrode forming a capacitance in a pixel regions is disclosed. Gate lines are formed on the first substrate and extending in the first direction. Data lines are intersecting the gate lines and each data line has a bent shape. Pixel regions are defined by the intersecting of the gate lines and the data lines. The direction control electrode is formed at the corresponding pixel region and electrically connected to the corresponding data line. The pixel electrode is formed at the corresponding pixel region and has a shape conformal to the corresponding pixel region. By adjusting the capacitance between the direction control electrode and the pixel electrode, liquid crystal stability is enhanced.
