Abstract:
Animation of a thermal image captured by a thermal imager that includes automatically changing particular aspects of the presentation of the image. The coloring of the thermal image may automatically change through two or more color presentations. The colors which may automatically change or be “animated” may be any colors in the usual rainbow of color or in the grayscale. The animation may include a series of small, stepwise incremental changes that gradually change the image. If timed correctly and if the increments are sufficiently small, the transitions of the image may appear smooth, in the manner of a movie or cartoon.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to a facilitated method for accurately measuring the earth ground resistance of a ground rod, in particular a footing of a pylon acting as a ground rod or a ground rod attached to the footings of a pylon, and obtaining an overall value for the resistance of the pylon. A method of determining the earth ground resistance of two or more pylon footings is provided according to the present disclosure, comprising conducting selective measurements of each footing of a pylon consecutively and wherein true values for the resistance of each footing measured are calculated. According to the present disclosure, the testing means is connected directly to two auxiliary electrodes which are placed at predetermined distances from the pylon, and a current measurement means which is placed around a pylon footing in order to measure the current flowing along the footing.
Abstract:
A test instrument provides suggested next operational step function to provide a user with assistance during testing. A display is provided to show the amount of a project that has been completed, for example as a percentage completed value. Individual test results may be saved to a “fix later” list, which may be later accessed to re-test items that may not have passed on initial testing.
Abstract:
A prequalification determination is made on a DSL line to predict the bit rate improvement that might be accomplished by implementation of vectoring, providing information to use in determining whether or not to implement vectoring. Overall noise is measured on the line, along with FEXT noise, and the FEXT noise is subtracted from the overall noise, and the resulting value is employed to determine a predicted bit rate, providing an indication of the potential bit rate if vectoring is implemented.
Abstract:
The techniques disclosed herein determine a location independent network delay, via a network monitoring device. Such techniques particularly include determining various delays caused by retransmission in instances of lost data segments and application response time.
Abstract:
An apparatus having improved line rate communication. A Media Access Controller (MAC) accesses each reference pointer stored in transmission slots of a first sub-queue of a transmission queue. Notably, each reference pointer is indexed to a shared memory frame. The MAC transmits data from the shared memory frame in response to accessing the reference pointer, and triggers at least one interrupt when each reference pointer of the first sub-queue is accessed at least once. A processor and/or the MAC can mark in response to the at least one interrupt, each transmission slot of the first sub-queue as ready for transmission.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides systems and methods for using an article in connection with an optical device. Some systems may include an article configured to receive the optical device into a main body of the article. The main body may also include an access opening configured to receive a hand of the user to allow the user to operate the optical device while the device is received within the main body. The main body may include an optical aperture to allow the optical device to capture one or more spectrums of light from within the main body. The main body may also include a viewing aperture to allow a user to view a display of the optical device from outside of the main body. Some systems include an alignment apparatus configured to maintain an orientation of the optical device within the main body such that the optical device remains in alignment with both the optical and viewing apertures. Some systems include a viewing visor configured to facilitate the viewing of the display of the optical device from outside of the main body through the viewing aperture.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are techniques for improved network management, including improved visualization of network events. According to one embodiment, a network monitoring node receives performance data corresponding to at least one network parameter for a network path between a source node and a destination node, and receives a user-specified time period. The network monitoring node further determines a time associated with the performance data, and aligns the performance data according to the associated time and the at least one time index for each node in the network path. The network monitoring node simultaneously presents the performance data for each network node in the network path aligned according to the associated time and the at least one time index for the user-specified time period.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for adjusting the focus of a camera. A rotatable focus member, when rotated, effects movement of an indicator element. The position of the indicator element is sensed by a sensing element and is passed to a controller within the camera. The controller prompts a motor to drive a focusing element of the camera in response to changes in the sensed position of the indicator element. The focus member effects movement of the indicator element by way of rolling resistance as opposed to sliding friction, allowing for more consistent and controlled manipulation.
