摘要: Overburden stress is applied to a core rock sample in a sleeve. Pressure is applied to pores in the core rock sample. An overburden fluid pressure indicative of the overburden stress and pore fluid pressure indicative of the pore pressure is measured. A difference between the overburden fluid pressure and pore fluid pressure is determined. The measuring and determination of the difference is repeated over a period of time. A rate of change of the difference over the period of time is determined. An indication of the rate of change meeting a threshold level is output indicative of the overburden stress transferring into and throughout the core rock sample.

摘要: Construction and use of an instrument test fixture for capturing performance data for stimulation or fracturing treatments. The test fixture includes a target material, such as concrete, which includes embedded sensors surrounding a casing. An energetic stimulation treatment, such as a dynamic pulse fracturing technique, is applied through the casing to the target material to simulate a treatment that would be performed in a wellbore. During application of the treatment, the sensors capture measurements which are recorded for analysis by a data collection system. The sensors allow for the measurement of key performance indicators including static and dynamic pressure, generated temperature, and resulting strain energy. The captured data can be analyzed and used to design and optimize stimulation treatments for field applications.

摘要: A pixelation-based approach to summarize downhole inversion results acquires inversion solutions and generates an initial model. Each layered solution is pixelated into pixels where each pixel contains the resistivity value of the initial model. A weighted function that weighs pixels according to their proximity to the logging tool may be used to generate the pixelated model to thereby improve accuracy. A statistical summary study is performed to identify the best pixelated model, which is then used to determine one or more formation characteristics.

摘要: A densitometer in the present disclosure comprises a measurement module that is calibrated to estimate sample fluid density with high accuracy and minimized sensitivity to temperature of tube and clamp components in the densitometer. The densitometer measures sample fluid density by vibrating the sample fluid and measuring the resonant frequency of the sample fluid, then estimating the sample fluid density based on this resonant frequency. The measurement module is calibrated specific to dissimilar tube and clamp materials. The tube and the clamp of the densitometer have materials are chosen to be cost-effective based on the specifications of the densitometer system and to have coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs) which reduce temperature dependence of the resonant frequency of the sample fluid inside of the densitometer.

摘要: An apparatus comprises a distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) optical fiber, a DAS interrogator coupled to the DAS optical fiber, and a connector. The connector couples the DAS interrogator, a first digitizer, and a second digitizer, wherein the first digitizer is to generate a first digitized DAS signal based on an analog DAS signal from the DAS interrogator, and the second digitizer is to generate a second digitized DAS signal based on the analog DAS signal. The apparatus also comprises one or more processors and a machine-readable medium having program code executable to cause the apparatus to simultaneously generate a first set of values that correlate with a first physical property based on the first digitized DAS signal and generating a second set of values that correlate with a second physical property based on the second digitized DAS signal.

摘要: Methods and system for modeling wellbore treatment operations in which the flow of treatment fluids may be diverted are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: receiving, at a processing component, one or more treatment operation inputs characterizing a treatment operation for a wellbore system comprising a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation and a treatment fluid comprising a diverter, wherein at least one of the one or more treatment operation inputs comprises the inlet concentration of the diverter in the treatment fluid; and using the processing component to determine a wellbore system pressure distribution and a wellbore system flow distribution based, at least in part, on the one or more treatment operation inputs and a diversion flow model, wherein the diversion flow model captures an effect of the diverter on fluid flow in the wellbore system.

摘要: Drill bit wear can be quantified through an analysis of chemical reactions that occur during drilling. A detector measures the molar composition of a dissolved gas sample. From the molar composition, the moles of hydrogen, ethylene, and propylene in the dissolved gas sample are determined. A thermal cracking reaction and a thermal decomposition reaction determine moles of hydrogen produced during drill bit wear based on the moles of ethylene and propylene. The moles of hydrogen produced is subtracted from the total moles of hydrogen to determine moles of hydrogen produced by metal oxidation. A metal-water reaction determines the moles of metal that have been oxidized. This can be converted into mass or volume of metal loss to quantify drill bit wear.
