摘要: A method and apparatus to detect breaks in tracks and/or detect the presence of a vehicle, such as a train, in a monitored section of the track or rail. Embodiments of the present invention measure the change in track inductance associated with a track or rail break. Electrical shunts are connected between the rails at spaced-apart intervals (for example a shunt can be placed every mile). At least two different frequencies of alternating current are generated and fed into the segments of rail (for example at or near a mid-point between the shunts). If a rail break occurs, the total inductance of the rail at that segment will change. Using two or more frequencies allows a rail break to be differentiated from environmental rail-to-rail and rail-to-earth leakage.

摘要: A system includes a track system having a first rail and a second rail, a track activity detection circuit electrically connected to each of the first rail and the second rail, a track shunt circuit electrically connected to the first rail and the second rail, wherein the track shunt circuit is configured to selectively electrically connect the first rail and the second rail through a shunt. A method includes receiving an instruction to apply a shunt between a first rail and a second rail of a track system, and electrically connecting the first rail to the second rail through a controllable track shunt circuit.

摘要: The present disclosure generally relates to shunt devices for providing multi-fold protection for track workers. For example, a failsafe shunt device may have a pair of end components magnetically couple to two running rails and a central unit connected to the pair of end components via electrical wires. The failsafe shunt device may communicate with an operations control center (OCC) to indicate a presence of the shunt device. Related methods of using disclosed shunt devices and associated systems are also described.

摘要: System, method and computer-readable media are provided for monitoring in a railroad yard effects of a railtrack having one or more curved track segments on motion characteristics of a railcar, as the railcar rolls along the railtrack due to gravity. The system may include impedance-measuring track circuitry arranged to monitor at least one motion parameter of the railcar as the railcar passes through a straight segment of the railtrack. The impedance-measuring track circuitry may be further arranged to monitor such at least one motion parameter of the railcar, as the railcar passes through a curved segment of the railtrack. The system may further comprise a processor coupled to the impedance-measuring track circuitry to determine a first coefficient of rollability of the railcar applicable to a straight railtrack segment, and a second coefficient of rollability of the railcar applicable to a curved railtrack segment.

摘要: In the state that a train moves from a track circuit 3T toward a track circuit 5T, and a train detection signal TD1 is supplied from the boundary between the track circuits 3T and 5T to the track circuits 3T and 5T, and the train detection signal TD1 is received by the train, if the signal intensity is suddenly reduced greatly immediately after the axle of the train passes the boundary between the track circuits 3T and 5T, it can be decided that the train passes the boundary between the track circuits 3T and 5T. Therefore, if absolute position information of the track circuit 5T is preserved beforehand in the train, the movement distance calculated from pulse output of a speed generator is corrected (replaced) in the absolute position information of the track circuit 5T, and hereafter is updated by the pulse output, thus the position of the own train can be easily detected as a movement distance.
