    Abstract: A communication method and system for converging a fifth generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a fourth generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of things (IoT) are provided. The communication method and system may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method of a terminal for performing a random access procedure in a wireless communication system is provided. In addition, a method by a terminal for system information (SI) request is provided. A method includes receiving, from a base station, information on resources for SI request including information on a start index of at least one random access preamble for the SI request; receiving, from the base station, at least one synchronization signal block (SSB); selecting an SSB among the at least one SSB; determining a preamble for the SI request corresponding to the selected SSB based on the information on the start index; and transmitting, to the base station, the determined preamble based on a physical random access channel (PRACH) occasion corresponding to the selected SSB.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a 5G communication system or a 6G communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4G communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). Accordingly, embodiments herein disclose a system and method for handling resource allocation in wireless communication system. The method includes registering, by a UE, a first SIM among a plurality of SIMs with a first network entity in the wireless communication system and a second SIM among plurality of SIMs with a second network entity in wireless communication system. Further, the method includes configuring, by the UE, a RF resource with the first SIM for at least one of a downlink reception and uplink transmission. Further, the method includes determining, by the UE, whether second SIM needs RF resource. Further, the method includes performing, by the UE, provisioning of RF resource based on the determination.

According to embodiment, the method comprises identifying whether a timer related with a small data transmission (SDT) procedure is running at the UE in a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state, while the timer is running, performing at least one of monitoring of a system information (SI) change indication or an emergency notification in any paging occasion at least once per a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle and obtaining at least one of the SI change indication or the emergency notification, based on a result of the monitoring.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for an operation for configurations for on-demand SIB1 in a wireless communication system is provided. A method of a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a cell of a first base station (BS), a first synchronization signals and physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) block; determining, based on an indication in a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) of the first SS/PBCH block, a first value of kSSB; and determining, based on the first value of kSSB, whether the cell is associated with an on-demand system information block 1 (SIB1). The method further includes transmitting, based on a determination that the cell is associated with the on-demand SIB1, a request for the on-demand SIB1 to a second BS and receiving the on-demand SIB1.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for an operation for an on-demand synchronization signals/physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) block is provided. A method of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system includes determining a first set of parameters for a first set of SS/PBCH blocks and determining a second set of parameters for a second set of SS/PBCH blocks. The first set of parameters includes a first cell identity (ID) and a first frequency location. The second set of parameters includes a second cell ID and a second frequency location. The first set of SS/PBCH blocks is periodic. The second set of SS/PBCH blocks is on-demand and indicated to be transmitted by a base station (BS). The method further includes receiving a first SS/PBCH block from the first set of SS/PBCH blocks and receiving a second SS/PBCH block from the second set of SS/PBCH blocks.
