Abstract: An electronic device according to an embodiment includes an mmWave communication module and a processor. The processor is configured to receive a first signal transmitted by a first external electronic device, identify a distance of a transmission path of the first signal, transmit a second signal, receive a third signal obtained when the second signal is reflected, identify a distance of a transmission path of the second signal based on a difference between a transmission time of the second signal and a reception time of the third signal, and determine whether the transmission path of the first signal is a line of sight (LoS) path between the electronic device and the first external electronic device based on a difference between the distance of the transmission path of the first signal and the distance of the transmission path of the second signal. In addition, other embodiments are possible.

Abstract: According to various embodiments, an electronic device using a millimeter wave comprises: a first antenna array; a second antenna array; a communication circuit; and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor may be configured to: control the communication circuit to output a first signal through the first antenna array; when a first reflected signal acquired from the first signal reflected by an object is received through the second antenna array, determine the range between the object and the electronic device on the basis of the first reflected signal; determine an output period of a second signal on the basis of the determined range; control the communication circuit to output the second signal through the first antenna array according to the determined output period; and when a second reflected signal acquired from the second signal reflected by the object is received through the second antenna array, identify an attribute of the object on the basis of the second reflected signal. Various other embodiments may be possible.

The at least one processor can be configured to: control the communication circuit so that a first millimeter wave signal is output at a first strength; use the communication circuit so that the first millimeter wave signal receives a first reflection signal reflected by an object; confirm whether the object is positioned within a first distance from the electronic device; determine the strength of a second millimeter wave signal to be a second strength corresponding to a second distance between the electronic device and the object, the second distance being shorter than the first distance; and control the communication circuit so that the second millimeter wave signal is output at the determined second strength.

The location determination module may be configured to: acquire a phase difference of arrival of a signal calculated on the basis of the signal received from the external electronic device via the communication module; determine a data range corresponding to the acquired phase difference of arrival of the signal from among the plurality of data ranges; and calculate the angle of arrival of the signal by using a correction value corresponding to the determined data range from among the correction values. Abstract: An object recognition method and an electronic device thereof are provided. The method includes transmitting a signal to an external object, controlling a wireless communication module to receive a signal reflected from the external object, controlling the wireless communication module to obtain a channel impulse response based on the transmitted signal and the received signal, obtaining information of an orientation of the external object based on the received signal, detecting phase noise caused by a movement of the electronic device, extracting a component matching the orientation of the external object from the detected phase noise, and compensating for phase information in the channel impulse response based on the component matching the orientation of the external object.

Abstract: A method for adjusting the length of a Golay sequence for object recognition and an electronic device therefor are provided. The method for operating the electronic device includes estimating a predicted distance to an external object, determining, based on the estimated predicted distance, the length of a Golay sequence included in a signal for recognizing the external object, and transmitting at least one signal including a Golay sequence having the determined length, and when a device for wireless communication, included in the electronic device, is utilized to perform a radar function, the length of a Golay sequence is adjusted to enable object recognition as much as a length required according to the use of an application, such that recognition efficiency and data communication efficiency can be optimally provided.
