    Abstract: A die includes fins extending in a first direction, a gate formed over the fins, the gate extending in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction, a first source/drain contact layer formed over the fins and extending in the second direction, and a second source/drain contact layer formed over the fins and extending in the second direction, wherein the first source/drain contact layer and the second source/drain contact layer are on opposite sides of the gate. The die also includes a first source/drain metal layer electrically coupled to the first source/drain contact layer, and a second source/drain metal layer electrically coupled to the second source/drain contact layer, wherein the first source/drain metal layer and the second source/drain metal layer do not overlap one or more of the fins.

    Abstract: Some disclosed methods involve performing a fingerprint enrollment process involving obtaining fingerprint image data via a first fingerprint sensor of a fingerprint sensor system including two or more fingerprint sensors and creating a first fingerprint sensor template for subsequent fingerprint authentication via the first fingerprint sensor. Some disclosed methods involve determining a second fingerprint sensor of the fingerprint sensor system for which a fingerprint template will be created, determining one or more second fingerprint sensor characteristics of the second fingerprint sensor and creating a second fingerprint sensor template for subsequent fingerprint authentication via the second fingerprint sensor based, at least in part, on the first fingerprint sensor template and the one or more second fingerprint sensor characteristics. In some examples, the method may involve creating the second fingerprint sensor template without performing an enrollment process involving the second fingerprint sensor.

    Abstract: In some implementations, a method may involve detecting that touch sensing using a capacitive touch sensor system is inoperable in a given user context. Touch sensing using the capacitive touch sensor is disabled and touch sensing using an alternative sensor system is enabled. The alternative sensor system may include a fingerprint sensor system, an optical sensor system, and a force sensor system. Touch sensing using the alternative sensor system may be limited to a designated portion in a graphical user interface for improved user experience. In some implementations, the designated portion may be coextensive with an active area of the fingerprint sensor system and user interface controls may be arranged into an array of tiles.

    Abstract: A method may involve obtaining a latent fingerprint on a surface, storing the latent fingerprint, obtaining a live fingerprint on the surface, and authenticating the live fingerprint based in part on the stored latent fingerprint and in part on previously-authenticated fingerprint data. The method may involve rejecting authentication of the live fingerprint as a potential spoof, if the live fingerprint matches the latent fingerprint under a relatively strict correlation test. The method may also involve, when the live fingerprint doesn’t closely match the latent fingerprint, granting authentication of the live fingerprint if the live fingerprint matches the previously-authenticated fingerprint data under a relatively loose correlation test.
