Abstract: Techniques are provided which may be implemented using various methods and/or apparatuses for locating a User Equipment (UE) using one or more proximity devices (PDs) nearby to the UE. One of the provided exemplary techniques includes initiating, by the UE, a request for a location of the UE; sending, by the UE to a location server, a first message comprising a first information for at least one PD in communication with the UE; receiving, by the UE from the location server, a second message comprising a second information for the at least one PD; sending, by the UE to the at least one PD, the second information; receiving, by the UE from the at least one PD, a third information; and obtaining, by the UE, the location of the UE based on the third information.

The method may include processing, by a mobile device with carrier aggregation, a voice call via a first RAT, the processing of the voice call causing second RAT capabilities of the mobile device to go out of service. The method may also include accessing a communications network using the second RAT with an available receiver of the mobile device during the voice call via the first RAT. The method may also include obtaining, with the available receiver, timing information from one or more broadcast system information blocks of the second RAT, and determining a time based, at least in part, on the obtained timing information.

The method may include processing, by a mobile device with carrier aggregation, a voice call via a first Radio Access Technology (RAT), the processing of the call causing second RAT capabilities of the mobile device to go out of service. The method may also include obtaining assistance data that includes information for capturing reference signals of a wireless communications network suitable for performing a positioning process with the mobile device during the voice call over the first RAT. Furthermore, based on the obtained assistance data, the method may include searching for the reference signals using an available receiver of the mobile device to access the wireless communications network. The method may also include providing signal measurements generated from captured reference signals to a position determining entity.

In an aspect, the user equipment receives positioning assistance data from a location server, the positioning assistance data including information to assist the user equipment to perform a plurality of inter-frequency positioning measurements corresponding to a plurality of inter-frequency base stations, determines a carrier aggregation receiver chain configuration supported by the user equipment, the carrier aggregation receiver chain configuration having a number of carrier aggregation receiver chains corresponding to the plurality of inter-frequency base stations, and enables the number of carrier aggregation receiver chains to perform the plurality of inter-frequency positioning measurements.
