Abstract: A base station may configure a user equipment (UE) with a discontinuous reception (DRX), e.g., connected mode DRX (CDRX), and the UE may select a synchronization signal block (SSB) set to perform an SSB warm-up to wake up, search, and measure the SSB set to improve the performance of the UE during a DRX ON duration. The UE may select the SSB set based on a time difference of the SSB set relative to the DRX ON duration. The UE may be configured to wake up to measure one of a first SSB set or a second SSB set having a smaller time difference relative to the DRX ON duration.

The UE may further identify that a distance between the first SSB and the PO is less than a distance between a second SSB the PO, the second SSB located before the PO. The UE may further select the first SSB associated with loop operations based on identifying that the distance between the first SSB and the PO is less than a distance between the second SSB the PO.

Abstract: In an aspect, the present disclosure includes a method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) for measuring one or more synchronization signal block (SSB) beams from a network entity; selecting a highest rated SSB beam from the one or more SSB beams based on one or more selection factors; transmitting, to the network entity, a beam report including an identification of the highest rated SSB beam; initiating a timer in response to transmitting the beam report; determining whether a media access control (MAC) control element (CE) is received from the network entity before expiration of the timer; and performing beam switching from a current SSB beam to the highest rated SSB beam based on a determination that the MAC CE is not received from the network entity before expiration of the timer.

Abstract: A wireless communication device can adaptively perform tracking loop updates for rude wake-up events when operating in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode. In an aspect, the wireless communication device can perform one or more tracking loop updates, such as time tracking loop (TTL) updates and frequency tracking loop (FTL) updates, based on a time difference between a last tracking loop update and a warm-up occasion associated with a rude wake-up event being greater than a threshold. In addition, in response to the time difference being less than or equal to the threshold, the wireless communication device can perform the rude wake-up event without performing the one or more tracking loop updates.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may configure one or more radio frequency (RF) chains of the UE to communicate using a second radio access technology (RAT) for a length of time. The UE may identify that the length of time satisfies a threshold. The UE may configure the one or more RF chains to the first RAT. The UE may initiate a beam measurement on the first RAT in a number of consecutive measurement occasions based at least in part on the length of time satisfying the threshold.
