    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing a retransmission protocol in a wireless local area network (WLAN). The retransmission protocol enables a sending station (STA) to communicate additional parity bits associated with an original transmission that included forward error correction (FEC) encoded codewords. Several techniques are described for a receiving STA to indicate which portions of the original transmission was not properly received. The receiving STA may store the original transmission for use with additional parity bits in a subsequent transmission. The sending STA may communicate the additional parity bits in a subsequent transmission to assist the receiving STA recover the data from the original transmission.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication are disclosed herein. One aspect of the disclosure provides a method of transmitting to two or more wireless communication devices. The method includes transmitting a first section of a preamble according to a first format, the first section of the preamble containing information informing devices compatible with the first format to defer to the transmission, transmitting a second section of the preamble according to a second format, the second section of the preamble containing tone allocation information, the tone allocation information identifying two or more wireless communication devices; and transmitting data to the two or more wireless communication devices simultaneously, the data contained on two or more sub-bands.

    Abstract: A communication device for allocating tones is described that includes a processor and instructions in memory in electronic communication with the processor. The communication device determines whether a bandwidth for signal transmission is 20, 40, 80 or 160 megahertz (MHz). The communication device respectively allocates tones for 20, 40, 80 or 160 MHz as follows: for a very high throughput (VHT) signal A1 (VHT-SIG-A1): 52, 104, 208, 416; a VHT signal A2 (VHT-SIG-A2): 52, 104, 208, 416; a VHT short training field (VHT-STF): 12, 24, 48, 48; one or more VHT long training field(s) (VHT-LTF(s)): 56, 114, 242, 484; a VHT signal B (VHT-SIG-B): 56, 114, 242, 484; and a data field (DATA): 56, 114, 242, 484. The communication device also transmits the signal.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing access to a wireless medium by one or more stations (STAs) in a wireless network. A device determines a first transmit opportunity for a first STA of the one or more STAs in the wireless network. The device enables the first STA to access the wireless medium for a duration of the first transmit opportunity by broadcasting a first grant message to the one or more STAs in the wireless network. The first grant message indicates allocation of the first transmit opportunity to the first STA. The device may selectively adjust the duration of the first transmit opportunity based at least in part on one or more properties of the wireless network.
