Abstract: A mobile imaging system or mini C-arm with a variable aperture assembly is disclosed. The mini C-arm includes a detector and a moveable source. The aperture assembly being operatively coupled to the moveable source. The aperture assembly including a plurality of independently controllable blades such as, for example, first, second, third, and fourth blades, to define a variable aperture through which an X-ray beam is passed from the source to the detector. In one embodiment, each of the plurality of blades is independently controlled. In one embodiment, the aperture assembly includes a PCB sensor aligned with the plurality of blades for detecting a position of each of the plurality of the blades.

Abstract: A real-time fluoroscopic imaging system includes a collimator and a detector which are rotationally movable independent of the support assembly, e.g., c-arm, to which they are mounted. Rotational movement of the collimator and the detector are coordinated such that the orientation of the detector with respect to the collimator does not change. The collimator may include a geared flange member to facilitate rotation, and may be a single molded piece formed of a plastic such as tungsten polymer material. The system may also include a plurality of interchangeable collimators characterized by different shapes. A display is provided to present an image to an operator, and image orientation logic displays a target anatomy in a selected orientation regardless of orientation of the target anatomy relative to the detector, and regardless of rotation of the detector.

Abstract: A mobile imaging system or mini C-arm with an increased range of motion is disclosed. The mini C-arm including a mobile base, a C-arm assembly, and an arm assembly for coupling the C-arm assembly and the mobile base. The arm assembly being coupled to the mobile base via a first joint assembly that enables the arm assembly to move relative to the mobile base about first and second axes of rotation. Thus, in use, the first joint assembly enables two degrees of motion—a first vertical pivoting or rotational movement and a second horizontal pivoting or rotational movement. The first joint assembly being coupled to the base via a horizontal axis of rotation that is located at a vertically fixed position so that the horizontal axis of rotation is positioned at a fixed height or distance from the base, and hence a fixed height or distance from the floor.

The C-arm assembly includes a first end, a second end, and a curved intermediate body portion defining an arc length. The source is positioned adjacent to the first end. A detector is positioned at the second end. The source is moveable along the arc length and relative to the detector to enable a plurality of images of the patient's anatomy to be acquired including a first image when the X-ray source is at a first position and a second image when the X-ray source is at a second position. The images being taken without moving the patient's anatomy. The C-arm assembly may include a motor and a belt drive system for moving the source relative to the detector.
