The image encoding apparatus according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include: an encoding level decision unit determining an encoding level of an input image; a sampling unit outputting an encoding target picture associated with the encoding level determined in the encoding level decision unit; an encoding unit encoding the encoding target picture output from the sampling unit; a reference picture storage unit storing at least one reference picture; and a reconstructed image generation unit generating a reconstructed image corresponding to the input image in association with the encoding level determined in the encoding level decision unit.

Disclosed are a method and apparatus for providing a three-dimensional (3D) broadcast service using images with asymmetric aspect ratios and a method and apparatus for reproducing a 3D broadcast service. The method of providing the 3D broadcast service includes adjusting a second viewpoint image to be composed with a first viewpoint image into a 3D form with respect to the first viewpoint image and the second viewpoint image for 3D broadcasting, encoding the first viewpoint image and the adjusted second viewpoint image, and generating a broadcast stream of the first viewpoint image and a broadcast stream of the second viewpoint image by multiplexing the first viewpoint image and the second viewpoint image.

An image reproduction apparatus for a 3DTV and a processing method by the apparatus are disclosed. The image reproduction apparatus may determine an output time of a buffer to store a left image stream and a right image stream for a 3D image. The image reproduction apparatus may determine a buffer size or a buffer delay time using a reception time difference between the left image stream and the right image stream. Further, the image reproduction apparatus may correct a reference clock or a timestamp using the reception time difference between the left image stream and the right image stream.

A similarity calculating method and apparatus are disclosed. A similarity calculating method according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes extracting similarity calculating data, which is determined in advance, by receiving a communication activity record for every user; modeling a communication activity pattern for every user and common information between the users based on the extracted similarity calculating data; and calculating a similarity between users using the modeled communication activity pattern for every user and common information. The modeling includes: modeling the communication activity pattern by calculating a value of a static feature from the similarity calculating data, and modeling the common information by calculating a value of a dynamic feature from the similarity calculating data.
