Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that provide video content (e.g., a TV show, a recorded sporting event, a movie, a 3D video, etc.) within a 3D environment using parameters selected based on one or more contextual factors. Such contextual factors may be determined based on an attribute of the content (e.g., its intended purpose or viewing environment), the user (e.g., the user's visual quality, interpupillary distance, etc.), the 3D environment (e.g., current lighting conditions, spatial considerations, etc.), or other context attributes.

Abstract: RAW camera images may be processed by a computer system using either a particular application or a system level service. In either case, at least some parameters needed for the processing are preferably separated from the executable binary of the application or service, and are provided in separate, non-executable, data-only files. Each of these files can correspond to a particular camera or other imaging device. When a user of the system attempts to open a RAW image file from an unsupported device, the local system may contact a server for on-demand download and on-the-fly installation of the required support resource.

Abstract: A method includes obtaining computer-generated content associated with a first color characteristic. The computer-generated content is associated with a first region of a physical environment. The method includes detecting a second color characteristic associated with a second region of the physical environment different from the first region of the physical environment. The method includes, while the electronic device is in a first display rendering mode including the first and second color characteristics, determining that a display rendering mode change condition is satisfied, and accordingly changing the electronic device from the first display rendering mode to a second display rendering mode. Changing to the second display rendering mode includes changing the first region from the first color characteristic to a third color characteristic, or changing the second region from the second color characteristic to a fourth color characteristic different from the third color characteristic.

Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that present content items (e.g., movies, TV shows, home-made videos, etc.) on electronic devices such as HMDs. Some implementations adjust what is being displayed by the electronic devices to mitigate optical module-based artifacts (e.g., ghosting). For example, in an HMD with a catadioptric lens, a mirror layer may leak some light to produce ghosting artifacts that may be mitigated by adjusting brightness, dynamic range, contrast, light-spill, color, etc. Some implementations utilize adjustments that are based on content item awareness (e.g., adjustments based on the peak brightness of the scene in a movie that is being displayed within an extended reality (XR) environment, etc.). Some implementations provide adjustments based on environment awareness (e.g., how dark is the surroundings or pass-through environment) and/or optical module modeling. The adjustments may change a particular content item and/or an environment in which it is presented.

Abstract: A device comprises memory, a display characterized by a characteristic, and processors coupled to the memory. The processors receive data indicative of a preferred adaptation technique and intended display parameter. The processors adapt the content item to a display color space and the intended display parameter based on the preferred adaptation technique. The processors modify the intended display parameter based at least in part on the display characteristic to obtain a modified display parameter and cause the adapted content item to be displayed on the display according to the modified display parameter. In some embodiments, the processors obtain data indicative of ambient light conditions and adjust the modified display parameter based on the data indicative of ambient light conditions. In some embodiments, the processors cause the adapted content item to be displayed according to the adjusted and modified display parameter.

Abstract: A head-mounted device is provided that includes a variety of subsystems for generating extended reality content, displaying the extended reality content, and recording the extended reality content. The device may include a graphics rendering pipeline configured to render virtual content, tracking sensors configured to obtain user tracking information, a virtual content compositor configured to composite virtual frames based on the virtual content and the user tracking information, cameras configured to capture a video feed, a media merging compositor configured to overlay the composited virtual frames and the video feed, and a recording pipeline configured to record parameters, metadata, raw content, and/or adjusted content in an extended reality recording file. The extended reality recording file may have multiple discrete portions that may each be individually edited. The extended reality recording file may be used to present a replay on the head-mounted device and/or may be exported to an external device.
