    Abstract: A switching power converter circuit may include output voltage overshoot mitigation circuitry that can modify operation of the converter responsive to an overvoltage condition by switching from a pulse width modulation (PWM) mode to a pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode. A clamp may be provided to clamp a control voltage or a compensating capacitor voltage of the main output voltage control loop (e.g., a PWM control loop) to a control voltage of the PFM loop. An output pull down circuit may be provided to temporarily apply a load to the converter output.

    Abstract: A battery powered electronic device can include a wireless power system configured to receive power from a wireless power transmitter, a converter coupled to the wireless power system that converts a voltage from the wireless power system to a battery charging voltage, a battery comprising at least two cells, a power management unit that delivers power from one or more of the at least two cells to one or more subsystems of the electronic device, and a plurality of switching devices connecting the at least two cells, the converter, and the power management unit. The plurality of switching devices can be arranged so that a first switching configuration connects the cells in series for charging from the converter and a second switching configuration connects the cells in parallel for delivering power to the power management unit.

    Abstract: A multi-cell battery powered device can include at least one power input, a first power converter coupled between the power input and a battery bus, a second power converter coupled between the battery bus and a system load of the electronic device, a plurality of cells, and a plurality of primary battery protection switches. The primary battery protection switches can be selectively operable to couple the plurality of cells in: (1) a parallel configuration in which the cells are coupled to the battery bus so as to charge or discharge in parallel, (2) a series configuration in which the cells are coupled to the battery bus so as to charge or discharge in series, and (3) an isolated configuration in which at least one of the plurality of cells is coupled to the battery bus and at least one of the plurality of cells is disconnected from the battery bus.
