Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for providing instructions when receiving biometric data associated with a user. For instance, a device may detect a portion of a user, such as a hand. The device may then display a first graphical element indicating a target location for placing the portion of the user above the user-recognition device. Additionally, the device may determine locations of the portion of the user above the device. The device may then display a second graphical element indicating the locations, such as when the locations are not proximate to the target location. Additionally, the device may display instructions for moving the portion of the user to the target location. Based on detecting that the location of the portion of the user is proximate to the target location, the device may send data representing the portion of the user to a remote system.

Abstract: The playback of video content upon a display is enhanced through the unobtrusive presentation of extrinsic data upon the same display. A video content feature is rendered on a display. A quantity of extrinsic data relevant to a current time in the video content feature is determined based at least in part on viewing history of a user. A graphical element presenting at least a portion of the extrinsic data is rendered on the display while the video content feature is also being rendered on the display.

Abstract: The playback of video content upon a display is enhanced through the unobtrusive presentation of extrinsic data upon the same display. A video content feature is rendered on a display. It is determined whether to present extrinsic data relevant to a current time in the video content feature based at least in part on appearance control metadata. A graphical element presenting at least a portion of the extrinsic data is rendered on the display while the video content feature is also being rendered on the display in response to determining to present the extrinsic data.

Abstract: Relationships and descriptions are inferred for entities that appear in media content, such as movies and television programs. In one embodiment, media content is analyzed to infer relationships among entities that appear in the media content over an entirety of the media content. Relationships between two or more entities may change over time in the media content. A request is received from a client device for entity information regarding one or more entities relative to a particular time in the media content. Relationships that have been inferred via this analysis are then identified based at least in part on the particular time. The entity information presenting the identified relationships is sent to the client device.
