Abstract: A dolly zoom effect can be applied to one or more images captured via a resource-constrained device (e.g., a mobile smartphone) by manipulating the size of a target feature while the background in the one or more images changes due to physical movement of the resource-constrained device. The target feature can be detected using facial recognition or shape detection techniques. The target feature can be resized before the size is manipulated as the background changes (e.g., changes perspective).

Abstract: A system and method for generating contextually relevant reply suggestions for media posts is disclosed. The system analyzes media content to identify visual objects, scenes, text, and metadata attributes using computer vision techniques. Identified objects and attributes are incorporated into structured prompt templates to construct detailed natural language descriptions of the media context. The prompts are provided to a text generation artificial intelligence (AI) that outputs a plurality of contextual reply suggestions based on the media analysis. Suggestions are displayed as selectable options adjacent to the media post. Users can cycle through suggestions and select a reply to send. Selections are logged to improve the AI model. Feedback on suggestion quality can also be collected. By integrating computer vision and AI generation driven by engineered prompts, the system produces highly relevant, personalized responses tailored to media content. The techniques enhance user engagement with media posts through intelligent AI reply suggestions.

Abstract: A head-wearable apparatus determines an imaginary reference plane intersecting a head of a user viewing augmented content in a viewing pane having vertical and lateral dimensions in a display of the head-wearable apparatus. The imaginary reference plane coincides with a first viewing direction of the head of the user. The apparatus detects a rotational movement of the head of the user in a vertical direction while viewing the augmented content. In response to the detected rotational movement, the apparatus determines a second viewing direction of the head of the user when viewing the augmented content in the second viewing direction and determines a reference angle between the imaginary reference plane and the second viewing direction. Based on the reference angle, the apparatus assign one of a billboard display mode and a headlock display mode (or combination) to the augmented content presented in the display.

Abstract: Systems and methods for rendering three-dimensional (3D) scenes having improved visual characteristics from a pair of 2D images having different viewpoints. The 3D scene is created by obtaining a first two-dimensional (2D) image of a scene object from a first viewpoint, obtaining a second 2D image of the scene object from a second viewpoint that is different than the first viewpoint, creating a depth map from the first and second 2D images, creating a 3D scene from the depth map and the first and second 2D images, detecting regions of the initial 3D scene with incomplete image information, reconstructing the detected regions of the 3D scene, determining replacement information and modify the reconstructed regions, and rendering the 3D scene with the modified reconstructed regions.

Abstract: A decentralized two-phase commit in a datastore or database includes determining pre-validating a transaction, writing first metadata to a leader partition, the first metadata including a state indicating preparing and mutations of the transaction, and writing second metadata of a follower partition to indicate the follower partition is locked by the leader partition. The decentralized two-phase commit further includes updating the state of the first metadata to indicate committed and performing the transaction on the leader partition, performing the transaction on the follower partition and unlocking the follower partition, and updating the first metadata to remove the mutations of the transaction and updating the state of the first metadata to indicate the transaction is completed. The decentralized two-phase commit may further include selecting a leader partition key and updating the state of the first metadata to indicate committed unapplied.

Abstract: A message based processor comprises at least one processor cluster with a plurality of cluster elements each having a respective addressable storage space to store a state value indicative of its state, message handling utilities that are configured to receive input messages that designate specific ones of the plurality of cluster elements, and computation utilities that are configured to update a state value stored in the respective storage element of the designated cluster element. The addressable storage space of each cluster element further stores an operational mode indicator that is indicative of an operational mode of each cluster element. The operational mode is selected from at least one of transmission enabling operational mode and transmission disabling operational mode. The message handling utilities selectively transmit output messages for a cluster element to one or more cluster elements based on the operational mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods for causing display of a messaging achievement pictograph based on messaging activity are provided. In some example embodiments, a message activity communication is received by a messaging activity service from a client device, the messaging active communication causing and adjustment to a message activity score and the message activity score transgressing a first threshold activity score. Responsive to the message activity transgressing the first threshold activity score, an achievement pictograph is displayed on the client device. In some example embodiments, the pictograph may be ephemeral and removal of the pictograph may be triggered by a designated time or by the message activity score transgressing a second threshold activity score. In some example embodiments, a notification is generated that notifies a user of the display or removal from display of the achievement pictograph.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for computing gaze. The systems and methods access an uncorrected gaze vector computed based on a center point of a pupil of a user. The systems and methods process an image of the pupil by a machine learning model to predict an estimated error in a gaze vector, the machine learning model trained to establish a relationship between a plurality of ground truth gaze vectors and uncorrected gaze vectors for a plurality of pupil parameters, the pupil parameters including diameters, gaze angles, or gaze eccentricities. The systems and methods generate a corrected gaze vector by applying the estimated error in the gaze vector predicted by the machine learning model to the uncorrected gaze vector that has been computed based on the center point of the pupil of the user.

Abstract: A second input image is generated by applying a target augmented reality (AR) effect to a first input image. The first input image and the second input image are provided to a first visual-semantic machine learning model to obtain output describing at least one feature of the target AR effect. The first visual-semantic machine learning model is fine-tuned from a second visual-semantic machine learning model by using training samples. Each training sample comprises a first training image, a second training image, and a training description of a given AR effect. The second training image is generated by applying the given AR effect to the first training image. A description of the target AR effect is selected based on the output of the visual-semantic machine learning model. The description of the target AR effect is stored in association with an identifier of the target AR effect.
