The method includes determining, for a conversion between a current video block of a video and a bitstream representation of the video, an applicability of a geometric partitioning mode based on a rule; and performing the conversion based on the determining, and wherein the rule depends on a block width, a block height, and/or an aspect ratio of the current video block.
