摘要: Systems and methods are provided for recommending and dynamically scheduling content. A time when a request to consume a content item is likely to be received is identified and an identifier of the content item is displayed on a device. Prior to the identified time, an option to consume, at the identified time, the content item is also displayed on the device. In response to the option being selected, the device stops displaying the identifier of the content item until the identified time.

摘要: An apparatus and method for providing a virtual online live video channel are disclosed. In one implementation, a processing device may receive a request to play the virtual online linear video channel from a video player. The processing device may establish a connection between a manifest server and the video player. The processing device may further identify a schedule for the virtual online linear video channel, the schedule identifies a plurality of video sources. The processing device may then cause a live video stream, a prerecorded video signal and at least one advertisement corresponding to the schedule of the virtual online linear video channel to be retrieved from respective locations to produce the virtual online linear video channel for presentation to a user of the video player.

摘要: Systems and methods for updating television receiving devices (such as cable and satellite set-top boxes) include functionality that pre-downloads software or firmware updates for the receiving device on a mobile device, such as a smartphone, of a television service provider technician. In order to communicate the updates to the receiving device from the mobile device, during initial installation of the set-top box at the customer premises, the technician connects his or her mobile device to the same input of the set-top box that normally receives the television programming and remote software or firmware updates from the television service provider. The mobile device may include or be coupled to an adapter that adapts a signal and hardware interface from an output interface of the mobile device to a signal and hardware interface compatible with the input interface of the set-top box.

摘要: Alternative approaches to the insertion of local commercials and messages into networks feeds are provided. Embodiments include digital commercial insertion for cable operators and others that not only offer more flexibility and features, but may also be significantly cheaper to implement. The actual “insert” of the local commercial or message into the digital program is performed by a standard set top box, with several methods of providing the local commercial to the set top box at the proper insertion time. Another embodiment allows a cable operator to significantly save on equipment in the form of splicers and ad inserters, by allowing easy and dynamic mapping of local commercials to insertion zones.

摘要: The present disclosure is directed to methods and systems for searching for media content across multiple sources. A multi-source content system can connect various media content sources (e.g., internet streaming platforms, local or cloud storage, OTA networks, cable network, satellite network, public library databases, etc.) to a gateway. When a user searches for media content, the gateway can detect the search and perform a query across the various media content sources to locate the media content. The multi-source content system can prioritize the search results according to free content, local storage devices, gateway content services or bandwidth management metrics, and present the search results to the user. The multi-source content system can aggregate multiple media content sources and devices connected to a gateway to retrieve media content.

In this way, when the timeout of the guide interface element is customized based on characteristics of the guide data, the duration engine allows sufficient time for the viewer to view and react to the guide interface element. Incidents of viewer re-launching of the guide interface element can thus be reduced to improve system processing efficiency and viewing experience.

摘要: A differential media uploading system includes a hardware processor and a memory storing software code. The hardware processor executes the software code to receive a timeline file including a playlist track for a video file, and determine whether any pre-existing video frames stored in a media mastering system include a respective image depicted by a video frame contained in the video file. When it is determined that any of the pre-existing video frames include the respective image, the hardware processor executes the software code to disregard the video frame. When it is determined that none of the pre-existing video frames include the respective image, the hardware processor executes the software code to encode the video frame to provide an encoded video frame and upload the encoded video frame to the media mastering system.
