摘要: A sub-assembly for an electrochemical stack, such as a PEM fuel cell stack, has a bipolar plate with sealing material extending from its upper face, around the edge of the bipolar plate, and onto its lower face. The bipolar plate is preferably a combination of an anode plate and a cathode plate defining an internal coolant flow field and bonded together by sealing material which also provides a seal around the coolant flow field. All of the sealing material in the sub-assembly may be one contiguous mass. To make the sub-assembly, anode and cathode plates are loaded into a mold. Liquid sealing material is injected into the mold and fills a gap between the edge of the plates, and portions of the outer faces of the plates, and the mold. In a stack, sub-assemblies are separated by MEAs which at least partially overlap the sealing material on their faces.

The power converter includes a first power converter, and a second power converter. The first power converter is located on a first surface of the first fuel cell module. The second power converter is located on a first surface of the second fuel cell module. The first surfaces face each other. A first normal direction to the first surfaces is orthogonal to a stacking direction of the first single cells and the second single cells.

摘要: A method of operating a fuel cell power system includes providing a fresh hydrogen fuel to power modules that each contain a heater and a stack of fuel cells, providing a fuel exhaust containing hydrogen and water from the stack to a condenser, removing water from the fuel exhaust to generate a recycled fuel containing dewatered hydrogen, and pressurizing and recycling the recycled fuel output from the condenser to the power modules. The removed water may be vaporized in a stack cathode exhaust.

The anode plate design includes two mating flow fields (an anode gaseous flow field, and an anode liquid flow field) separated by a semi-permeable separator. The separator comprises a hydrophobic semi-permeable separator for CO2 diffusive gas transport from the liquid side (with acid, water, and CO2) to the gaseous side (allowing for CO2 removal to the atmosphere).

摘要: A fuel cell separator includes a coolant flow field formed between first and second metal separator plates. A first communication hole is formed in an outer peripheral wall of each of passage sealing beads that surround respectively an air vent passage and a coolant drain passage which are formed so as to penetrate in a separator thickness direction. A second communication hole is formed in an inner peripheral wall of each of the passage sealing beads. The first communication hole and the second communication hole are positioned to be displaced from each other in an extending direction of a first internal channel or a second internal channel.

摘要: The invention provides a method of inspection for erroneous assembly of a fuel cell stack which allows for determination of whether the fuel cell stack has been properly assembled without depending on the appearance of the fuel cell stack. The erroneous assembly inspection method inspects for erroneous assembly of a fuel cell stack that is produced by stacking power generation cells and dummy cells in proper power generation positions and proper dummy positions. The erroneous assembly inspection method measures a pressure difference in anode gas passages and cathode gas passages when gas is supplied at different pressures respectively to an anode gas inlet and a cathode gas inlet of the workpiece to determine whether or not the workpiece is in a third erroneous assembly state including a first abnormal cell in which a dummy MEA and a power generation separator are assembled.

摘要: A bipolar plate for a proton exchange membrane fuel cell includes a laminate of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) with a first outer ply. The CFRP includes a resin and carbon fibers. The first outer ply is arranged at a first lateral surface of the laminate, wherein the laminate includes a first plurality of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The first outer ply includes a first groove, wherein the first groove is configured to define a first gas diffusion channel. At least some of the first plurality of CNTs extend through the first outer ply in a direction transversely to the first lateral surface of the laminate.
