    摘要: A multi-functional shroud/arc tube support or clip (40a) for a high intensity discharge lamp (10). The support (40a) has one end (42) formed to engage a shroud (20). The one end (42) is formed as an arcuate member (43). A middle portion (44) is formed of separated, depending legs (46, 48) defining a space (50) therebetween for clasping the substantially rectangular pinch seal (52) of a quartz arc tube (14). The central section (53) is formed to clasp the cylindrical capillary (54) of a ceramic arc tube (14a). The central section (53) comprises the bight of a pair of U-shaped legs and the bights are provided with opposing, substantially hemi-cylindrical concavities (53a).

    摘要: A field emission device having a gate electrode structure in which a nanocrystalline or microcrystalline silicon layer is positioned over a silicon dioxide dielectric layer. Also disclosed are methods for forming the field emission device. The nanocrystalline or microcrystalline silicon layer forms a bond with the dielectric layer that is sufficiently strong to prevent delamination during a chemical-mechanical planarization operation that is conducted during formation of the field emission device. The nanocrystalline or microcrystalline silicon layer is deposited by PECVD in an atmosphere that contains silane and hydrogen at a ratio in a range from about 1:15 to about 1:40. Multiple field emission devices may be formed and included in a flat panel display for computer monitors telecommunications devices, and the like.

Electron emitting microheaps are formed within the holes above the exposed portions of the cathode electrode on the substrate. The contact conductive layer forms the field potential so that emission occurs substantially in the center of the aperture.
