    摘要: An apparatus may include a preamplifier configured to be connected to a plurality of magnetic read/write heads, wherein each of the magnetic read/write heads includes a read sensor to read data from a disc and a write element to write data to the disc. The preamplifier may include a first set of registers configured to indicate a first head of the plurality of magnetic read/write heads that is selected for reading data, a second set of registers configured to indicate a second head of the plurality of magnetic read/write heads that is selected for reading data, an input line configured to receive a control signal to activate reading data from the first head substantially simultaneously with reading data from the second head, a first output to provide data from the first head, and a second output to provide data from the second head.

    摘要: A storage apparatus of an embodiment includes a magnetic disk, a head, and a controller. The head includes a writing unit that outputs a magnetic field to record write data into a recording region of the magnetic disk to which light is irradiated and a reading unit that reads read data from the recording region of the magnetic disk. Based on a first spectrum of first read data read by the reading unit at a first position of the magnetic disk and a second spectrum of second read data read by the reading unit at a second position which is a following position of the first position, the controller detects whether an offset of the writing unit occurs while writing into the recording region of the magnetic disk is performed by the writing unit.

    摘要: According to one general embodiment, a method includes determining an offset between first and second arrays of transducers on a magnetic head in a direction perpendicular to an intended direction of media travel when the magnetic head is positioned at a first position, tilting the magnetic head to a second position, and delaying writing by at least some of the write transducers to provide magnetic transitions on a magnetic medium as if the longitudinal axis of the array was aligned in the direction perpendicular to the intended direction of media travel. At least one of the arrays of transducers includes write transducers. Moreover, the arrays of transducers have longitudinal axes aligned at the second position greater or less than 0 degrees from the longitudinal axes of the arrays of transducers aligned at the first position.

    摘要: In a method for operating a tape storage device comprising a tape head for reading and/or writing data from/to a tape in the tape storage device, a first tape skew value concerning a skew of the tape is determined and the first tape skew value is converted into a first skew control signal by means of a skew feedback controller. A second tape skew value concerning the skew of the tape is determined, and the second tape skew value is converted into a second skew control signal by a feed-forward controller. At least one compensation signal for the second skew control signal is determined, and at least one of a rotational orientation of the tape head and a tape motion direction of the tape is controlled dependent on the second skew control signal and the compensation signal in case the first skew control signal fails.
