Abstract: A rocker housing is configured to enclose a rocker shaft and rocker arms connected to push rods that protrude from a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine. The rocker housing comprises a sidewall configured to enclose the rocker shaft and a top wall extending laterally from an upper portion of the sidewall so as to extend over the rocker arms. The rocker housing further comprises an aperture configured to accommodate a fuel injector or a fuel supply pipe for supplying fuel to a fuel injector of the internal combustion engine. The rocker housing further comprises a fuel return channel extending within at least a part of the sidewall. The fuel return channel comprises an inlet at the interior surface of the sidewall configured to receive excess fuel from the injector; an outlet at an exterior surface of the sidewall configured to output the excess fuel, wherein the outlet is laterally offset from the inlet; and an interior passage extending between the inlet and the outlet. The interior passage is formed integrally in the sidewall of the rocker housing between the interior surface of the sidewall and the exterior surface of the sidewall. The interior passage has a minor component in a direction between the interior surface and the exterior surface of the sidewall and has a major component in a direction of lateral offset between the inlet and the outlet.

Abstract: A method of improving corrosion resistance of a cylinder cover including a port that is an intake port or an exhaust port. The cylinder cover is configured such that an annular cooling water passage is formed between an inner peripheral surface of the port and a valve seat ring when the valve seat ring is inserted in the port. The method includes forming a weld overlay layer on each of sealed regions of the inner peripheral surface of the port by laser metal deposition using a welding material made of a nickel-based alloy, a copper alloy, stainless steel, or a titanium alloy, the sealed regions being positioned at both sides of the cooling water passage, respectively.

Abstract: To provide a vehicle that includes a balancer mechanism for reducing vibration of the engine and can leave a space margin for increasing the fuel tank in size and/or arranging equipment or components at the rear of the cylinder and above the crankcase. The engine comprises a crankcase with a ceiling wall, a crankshaft provided in the crankcase, and a balancer mechanism for reducing vibration of the engine by power transmitted from the crankshaft. The balancer mechanism comprises an idler gear disposed behind the crankshaft and rotated by power transmitted from the crankshaft, and a first balancer disposed behind the idler gear and rotated by power transmitted from the idler gear. The idler gear and the first balancer are disposed along the ceiling wall.

Abstract: An engine cover assembly including a fastener concealing plug is disclosed. The plug includes a conical wall having upper and lower ends. A lower circumferential ring is spaced apart from the upper ring. The lower end of the concealing plug includes a fastener-receiving recessed area. The fastener pocket of the engine cover includes upper and lower grooves having a ring area formed therebetween. The upper circumferential ring of the plug nests with the upper groove of the pocket, the recessed area of the plug nests with the ring area, and the lower circumferential ring of the plug nests with the lower groove of the pocket. The engine cover is positioned on the engine such that a cover attaching stud passes through a stud-passing aperture of the cover. A fastening nut is threaded onto the cover-attaching stud until it comes into contact with a compression-limiting spacer. The plug conceals the fastener.

Abstract: An engine cover assembly including a stud-engaging engine cover pocket plug is disclosed. The plug conceals the cover fastener assembly. The plug includes a concealing cover and a stud attachment assembly extending from the cover. The assembly comprises a bridge, a pair of spaced apart legs attached to the bridge, and a base having a stud-retaining aperture. The bridge, the pair of spaced apart legs, and the base define a parallelogram such as a rectangle. The base of the stud attachment assembly has a long axis. According to one embodiment, the base includes a pair of opposed slots extending from the stud-retaining aperture in opposite directions along the long axis of the base. According to another embodiment, the base also includes a pair of opposed slots extending from the stud-retaining aperture. However, each slot extends in a direction that is perpendicular to the long axis of the base.
