摘要: An oscillation reduction tool configured to prevent or reduce high frequency torsional oscillation by torsionally decoupling a rotary steerable system from a bottom hole assembly, which includes a drilling motor. The tool may convert high frequency torsional oscillation into an internal axial movement without axial displacement of the tool's outer housing. The oscillation reduction tool may flatten an amplitude of high frequency torsional oscillation spikes throughout a spring arrangement. The mechanical energy associated with the internal axial movement is reduced through an internal shock absorbing mechanism, such as fluid movement through a nozzle or annular space. The oscillation reduction tool functions to reduce high frequency torsional oscillation independent of the weight on the bit of the drill string.

摘要: A drill head assembly may include a sonde housing and a drill bit. Two or more alignment posts protruding from the steering face of the sonde housing may mate with holes on the underside of a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) drill bit and are used to align the drill bit and transfer much of the forces from the drill bit to the sonde housing. The alignment posts reduce the load on the drill bit mounting bolts and help prevent these bolts from breaking while drilling in difficult ground conditions.

摘要: A mechanical automatic vertical drilling tool, with ends that are connected with an upper drilling tool and a bit by a detachable thread, is disclosed. The tool comprises a control device, an actuator and an auxiliary part. The control device detects status of wellbore and controls operations of the actuator when the wellbore leans. The actuator pushes a block out against the well wall to generate a radial force, which pushes against the drill bit to prevent deviation and modify the wellbore trajectory. The auxiliary part transmits the indispensable bit pressure and torque for drilling to assist the control device and the actuator to achieve the function. This disclosure can get automatic deviation correction with only mechanical structures. It is simple and reliable, and unlikely to fail in complicated wells without any manual operation.

摘要: A spallation drill head can include a drill head body having a primary face substantially oriented facing in a primary drilling direction along a longitudinal axis of the drill head body. A liquid inlet can be on the drill head body. The liquid inlet can be connected or connectable to a liquid supply line. An internal liquid connection can be oriented within the drill head body and fluidly connected to the liquid inlet. A plurality of liquid jets can be oriented on the primary face of the drill head. The liquid jets can be fed by the liquid inlet through the internal liquid connection. A mass flow controller can be associated with the liquid jets to control delivery of liquid by the liquid jet, and flowrates to at least two of the liquid jets can be independently controllable.

摘要: A cutting head has a mounting bracket for attachment to a pipe and a cutter wheel. A double tapered bearing is connected between the mounting bracket and the cutter wheel. The bearing allows the cutter wheel to be rotated without rotation of the pipe. A drive shaft connector on the cutter wheel is connectable to a pilot hole drive shaft for rotating the cutter wheel and pulling it and the pipe. A pilot hole is drilled in a conventional manner. The pipe is attached to the mounting bracket and an end of the pilot hole drive shaft is then connected to the cutter wheel. Simultaneously the pilot hole is enlarged and the pipe and cutter wheel are pulled along the enlarged hole by the drive shaft. The cutter wheel advances along the pilot hole and the pipe is simultaneously advanced through the enlarged hole immediately behind the cutter wheel.

摘要: A boring tool that is moved by a drill string to form an underground bore. A transmitter transmits a time varying dipole field as a homing field from the boring tool. A pitch sensor detects a pitch orientation of the boring tool. A homing receiver is positionable at a target location for detecting the homing field to produce a set of flux measurements. A processing arrangement uses the pitch orientation and flux measurements with a determined length of the drill string to determine a vertical homing command for use in controlling depth in directing the boring tool to the target location such that the vertical homing command is generated with a particular accuracy at a given range between the transmitter and the homing receiver and which would otherwise be generated with the particular accuracy for a standard range, different from the particular range. An associated system and method are described.

The drilling roadmap may be based on a location of the well on the field and a type of other applications being performed on the field. The method may include obtaining sensor collected data to determine an accuracy of implementation of the drilling roadmap. The accuracy may be determined based on a comparison between tracked drilling parameters and simulated drilling parameters.

The method includes identifying, by an electronic application, a first current RSS setting of the RSS tool; identifying, by the electronic application, a first target RSS setting of the RSS tool; identifying, by the electronic application, a plurality of instruction combinations configured to change the first current RSS setting to the first target RSS setting. Each instruction combination of the plurality of instruction combinations comprises a number of steps, and each step includes a downlink command sequence. The method also includes selecting, by the electronic application, an instruction combination that comprises the least number of steps.
