摘要： A Thermally transferable ink sheet comprises a base film having a periodically repeating set of successive ink coated regions having a plurality of color inks thereon, and index mark regions whose index mark comprises a combination of a plurality of sensor marks indicating information regarding the ink sheet located at each border between adjacent ink coated regions. According to a preferred embodiment, each pair of adjacent ink coated regions juxtaposed across each border have extended portions extending toward each other into the index mark region in directions parallel to the direction of ink sheet feeding. Thus, it is possible to read the index mark and identify the ink colors of adjacent ink coated regions at the same time. According to another feature, two sets of index marks are provided contiguous to each other to allow the print apparatus to be controlled by the combination of the resultant readings obtained separately from both sets of index marks.

摘要： A thermal transfer ribbon cassette system for use with a thermal transfer printer comprises supply and take-up spools, a thermal transfer ribbon extending between the spools with one end loaded onto the supply spool and the other onto the take-up spool, a cassette casing (10) with spool-locating means (15, 16) to locate and retain the two ribbon-carrying spools (5) spaced-apart, parallel and rotatable during printing, the spacing between the spools being predetermined to fit the printer, and a disposable loading member (20) comprising a rigid body portion (21) shaped to be manually transportable and having spool-holding means (23) releasably to hold the loaded spools (5) parallel, non-rotatable and spaced apart with the same predetermined spacing as the spool-locating means (15, 16); the spools (5), casing (10) and loading member (20) being adapted to enable the spools (5) to be inserted into the spool-locating means (15, 16) of the casing (10) while being held by the loading member (20), and to enable the loading member (20) thereafter to be withdrawn while the spools (5) are retained in the casing (10).

It is provided in a ribbon cassette for such a typewriter or such a printer to dispose at least one bistable magnetic element on a lateral surface of the ribbon cassette.

摘要： An end-of-ribbon sensing device for an office machine, which machine includes a printing station for receiving a nonreusable ribbon which is displaceable through the printing station and which has a scannable marking at its trailing end. The device includes: a receiving member mounted at the printing station for receiving the replaceable member; a ribbon scanning unit carried by the receiving member and having scanning elements for scanning the scannable marking disposed at the end of the ribbon and for generating a signal upon scanning of the scannable marking; a control circuit connected to the scanning unit for processing the signal generated by the scanning unit so as to generate a ribbon end signal; a covering element for selectively covering the scanning elements: and a support member supporting the covering element and carried by the receiving member, the support member being maintained in a first position, when a replaceable member is not present at the receiving member, in which the covering element covers the scanning elements, and the support member being movable in response to reception of a replaceable member by the receiving member into a second position in which the covering element is displaced so as to expose the scanning elements to the ribbon, the support member being returned to the first position upon removal of a replaceable member and the covering element being constructed for cleaning the scanning elements during return of the support member from the second position to the first position.

In order to be able to use a relatively weak motor, the lifting movements of the lift lever driven directly by the motor are transmitted directly to the print or correction ribbon guides without interconnecting members. Print ribbon feed is implemented by means of camming surfaces on the lift lever operating to feed ribbon during the return movement of the print ribbon to rest position below the printing line.
