Abstract: A device for comminuting pourable feedstock as well as a method for opening a device of this type. The device includes a housing, which encloses a comminution chamber, in which a rotor rotating around a rotation axis is arranged, the rotor being equipped with rotor tools over its circumference. A sieve holder, whose sieve extends along a circumferential section of the rotor, is used to separate the sufficiently comminuted material. The feedstock supplied to the rotor via a material infeed is removed from the device via a material discharge after being sufficiently comminuted. To improve accessibility to the interior of the device, it is proposed that, to open the housing, the sieve holder is pivotable around a first pivot axis from a closed first position into an open second position and additionally around a second pivot axis into a third position.

Abstract: A stationary housing (3) has an interior space (5) and at least one interior wall (7). At least one sawblade (9) is rotatable with respect to the stationary housing (3), and has a periphery (12) provided with a plurality of cutting teeth (15) and a plurality of collecting notches (17). The interior wall (7) surrounds a main part of the periphery (12) of the sawblade (9), and the inlet opening (19) and the outlet opening (21) are in direct communication with the interior space (5) so that the material enters and leaves the interior space (5) during one revolution of the sawblade (9).

Abstract: A material reduction machine includes a prime mover driving a cutting mechanism. An infeed portion engages a piece of material to feed it forward to the cutting mechanism. A sensor senses a machine load parameter via the cutting mechanism and/or prime mover and reports a signal to a controller operatively coupled to the infeed portion to control sequential cutting cycles on the piece of material. The controller utilizes a stored first stop threshold value for stopping a first cutting cycle and continues monitoring the signal as machine load increases momentarily after reaching the first stop threshold. The controller determines and adopts a second stop threshold value based on observation of the machine load parameter indicative of maximum load during the continued monitoring following attainment of the first stop threshold, and further being based on a stored correction factor. The second stop threshold value is used for a second cutting cycle.

Abstract: A wood chipper which includes a chamber having a flywheel and which includes a wood in-feed system. The in-feed system includes a bin inclined for gravity-feeding wood product to the chamber and a cylindrical anvil disposed between an outlet of the bin and the flywheel. The flywheel includes a plurality of plates laminated together with fasteners. First and second ones of the plates have aligned first and second openings respectively for passage of chips. The second opening has a tab which extends from an edge thereof partially into the first opening. A knife is attached to the tab and supports a blade outwardly of the first plate and thus outwardly of the flywheel. A system is provided for providing water mist onto wood product only as it is being fed down the in-feed bin.
