Abstract:
A group operated overhead switch for high voltage power lines includes a rotatable overtoggle mechanism linked to a control shaft and a plurality of switch phases secured to a crossarm support. The overtoggle mechanism may be rotated to and from a closed position and an open position, either or both of which may be overtoggled, that provides the operator with an affirmative snap when the switch is moved into an overtoggled position. The use of switch assemblies made of rotatable switch phases and a corresponding immobile electrical connector mounted on the same assembly support allows factory manufacture of modular switch assembly components for high quality control, consistent performance, and accurate component alignment. The supported switch assemblies are then mounted under factory controlled conditions on a dimensionally stable support crossarm and linked by group operated linkages with a switch overtoggle mechanism for actuation. The entire switching assembly may be mounted on a utility pole as a pre-manufactured unit.
Abstract:
A pull-chain switch system comprising several components in combination. First provided is a pull-chain switch with a spring of a first stiffness. Next provided is a switch subassembly having mounting portion and a pivoting member and a spring having a second stiffness. The second stiffness is greater than the first stiffness. Lastly provided is a means for coupling the subassembly to the pull-chain switch.
Abstract:
A two-part motor control center interlock arrangement has a handle support plate and interlock slide positioned on an interior of the control center door operating by insertion of a tapered pin on the door interior within a key-hole slot on the interlock slide. The elongated slot of the key-hole slot automatically compensates for any tolerance accumulation between a circuit breaker handle, an interlock operating handle and the control center access door.
Abstract:
A switch lockout and rocker switch includes a switch cover, a rocker plate, a base, and a lockout slide. The rocker plate has opposite first and second ends, and is pivotally mounted to the cover. The rocker plate is thus pivotable about a pivot axis between oppositely tilted first and second tilted positions. The slide is selectively translatable relative to the base, being slidably mounted on the base for translation of the slide in a slide direction perpendicular to the pivot axis so as to slide relative to the rocker plate between a first lockout position and second lockout position.
Abstract:
A decorative electrical switch actuator (50, 150) acts in combination with a conventional light switch (10) having a toggle switch arm (12) mounted in a base such that when the toggle switch arm pivots from a first position to a second position, electrical contacts in the base are moved from a contacting condition to a non-contacting condition or vice versa. The decorative switch actuator has a face plate (52), an actuating assembly (54), and a cap assembly (56, 156). The actuating assembly is mounted on the face plate, and has a means (106) for receiving the toggle switch arm such that a linear movement of the receiving means moves the toggle switch arm from the first to the second position or vice versa. The cap assembly (56, 156) is mounted on the face plate, and is structurally independent of the actuator.
Abstract:
A keyboard has a key array including keys, a top surface having a front edge and a back edge, and a bottom surface positioned opposite the top surface. An interface device for use with the keyboard includes a base, a front standoff coupled to the base and having a keyboard-contacting portion, and a back standoff coupled to the base and having a keyboard-contacting portion. The keyboard-contacting portions are spaced such that, when the base is positioned over the key array, the key array is positioned between the keyboard-contacting portions so as to align the base in a front-to-back orientation relative to the key array. The keyboard-contacting portions are both supported by the top surface of the keyboard. The interface device also includes a key-contacting mechanism mounted on the base in a fixed orientation relative to the standoffs, and a coupling mechanism for removably coupling the interface device to the keyboard.
Abstract:
A latching handle mechanism can secure a module containing a circuit interrupter. The mechanism has a lever mounted at a handle frame to rotate between a secured position and a released position for securing and releasing the module at a structure. Also includes is a shuttle plate that is mounted at the handle frame and adapted to connect mechanically to the circuit interrupter. The shuttle plate is mounted to reciprocate between an engaged and disengaged position in order to operate the circuit interrupter. The shuttle plate is also manually reciprocatable to operate the circuit interrupter, when the lever is in the secured position. The lever is operable in the released position to restrain and prevent manual reciprocation of the shuttle plate in order to prevent manual operation of the circuit interrupter.
Abstract:
A plurality of switchable contacts are provided on a relaying printed circuit board for centralized relaying of signals between a vehicle per se and a switch unit; a plurality of contact change-over members for connecting and disconnecting the switchable contacts are mounted on this printed circuit board; a drive member oscillatable from outside to inside of a box-shaped housing is fitted to each end of the housing in a lengthwise direction; the printed circuit board is fixed to an outer part of an under face of the housing to cause the contact change-over members to face the inside of the housing; the drive members and the contact change-over members are engaged with each other to oscillate the drive members; and the switchable contacts on the printed circuit board are thereby changed over.
Abstract:
An electric switch requiring mechanical movement for actuation is mounted to a surface mountable switch mounting plate by standoffs so as to position a toggle bat in position for actuation by a planar switch cover plate adapted for sliding engagement, in parallel juxtaposition, with the switch mounting plate. The switch cover plate is adapted for engagement with the electric switch for actuation thereof by sliding engagement.
Abstract:
The locking device comprises a first member disposed adjacent a toggle switch wall plate to pass a switch arm therethrough and having a first longitudinal slot of predetermined length along a given side thereof; a second member to pass the switch arm therethrough, to slide within the first member from an “ON” position to an “OFF” position and vice versa in step with the switch arm and having a lever extending out of the first longitudinal slot; and a third member disposed to cover the first and second member and to pass the switch arm therethrough, the third member having a second longitudinal slot along the side thereof adjacent the given side and coextensive with the first longitudinal slot and a detent disposed in the second longitudinal slot to lock the lever and, hence, the switch arm in a selected one of an “ON” position and an “OFF” position.
