Abstract:
An object is to provide a PTC element capable of preventing lead terminals from delaminating from an element body. This PTC element 1 is a PTC element comprising an element body 10 in which an electroconductive filler is dispersed in a crystalline polymer, and a pair of terminal electrodes 12, 14 thermocompression-bonded with the element body 10 in between, wherein each of the pair of terminal electrodes 12, 14 has an overlapping region 121, 141 overlapping with the element body 10, and a nonoverlapping region 122, 142 not overlapping with the element body 10, and wherein the nonoverlapping region 122, 142 of each of the pair of terminal electrodes 12, 14 is constructed of a succession of a wide portion 122a a width of which is large across a direction in which the terminal electrode 12, 14 extends from the element body 10, and a narrow portion 122b a width of which is smaller than the width of the wide portion 122a.
Abstract:
A compact configuration of resistive elements, plural circularly-arranged fixed contacts upon, or mountable upon, a printed circuit board (PCB), to comprise a rotary variable resistor. In one embodiment, fixed contacts are disposed upon one side of a PCB, in which through-conductors connect to a resistor pattern upon a separate ceramic substrate. In another embodiment, fixed contacts occupy the central area, and resistors and interconnecting conductors surround the same; all on one side of a ceramic substrate.Mutually insulated spring wipers connect to the fixed contacts to allow rotary variation of resistance.
Abstract:
An annular resistor, suitable for use in a diesel electric locomotive dynamic braking system and the like, having a supporting frame including spaced inner and outer annular frame portions and a continuous resistance ribbon having a plurality of bent-back radial extensions therebetween and in electrical isolation therefrom. U-shaped folds of the ribbon are mounted on pin supports allowing contraction and expansion of the ribbon. The pin supports are mounted to insulator blocks which may be selectively positioned on the frame, when two or more are stacked, to vary ribbon alignment and hence convective cooling. The resistor is comprised of severally replaceable identical component quadrants.
Abstract:
A variable resistance element is provided in which a multicontact brush is slidable over a plurality of spaced tap terminals of a resistance element. The resistance element includes a resistance film deposited on a suitable backing and a deposited conductive film in spaced strip form forming extending tap terminals for the resistance film. The brush contacts are aligned transversely to the path of travel of the brush while the tap terminals are angularly disposed relative to the path of brush travel so that at least two tap terminals are engaged by the brush contacts as the contact brush is moved relative to the tap terminals.
