    摘要: A server assembly having a housing and a tray mounted in the housing are provided. The tray had a top surface and a front surface, and an open position in which the top surface of the tray is accessible and a closed position in which the top surface of the tray is inaccessible. A first set of chip connections in the top surface can vertically removably receive at least one first storage device. The front surface of the tray can define at least one opening below the top surface configured to horizontally removably receive at least one second storage device. The first set of chip connections electronically couple the at least one first storage device with the server assembly and are inaccessible when the tray is in the closed position, and the openings are accessible regardless of whether the tray is in the open or closed position.

    摘要: A tape backup device for use in a magnetic disk drive unit of a personal computer. The tape backup device comprises a relatively thin housing to be inserted into the disk drive, a supply of magnetic recording tape outside the disk drive, tape drive means, and data transfer means. In one embodiment, the data transfer means can comprise means for bringing the disk drive read/write head and magnetic recording tape into sufficiently close proximity to magnetically transfer data therebetween. In a second embodiment, the data transfer means can comprise a magnetic circuit between the disk drive head and the magnetic tape. In a third embodiment, the data transfer means can comprise a translator head for reading data from and writing data to the disk drive head, means for bringing the disk drive head and the translator head into sufficiently close proximity to interact directly, a tape head for reading data from and writing data to the magnetic tape, and circuit means connected between the translator head and the tape head for transmitting data from one head to the other head. The magnetic tape can be stored on two tape reels in a reel-to-reel fashion or can be stored on an endless tape reel. Where the magnetic tape is stored in reel-to-reel fashion, the tape backup device can further comprise an autoreversing mechanism for causing the tape to reverse direction when the tape supply on one reel is exhausted. A tape drive means for causing the magnetic tape to move past the data transfer means can comprise means for coupling mechanical energy from the drive mechanism of the disk drive unit or from a separate electric motor contained within the data backup device. The energy from the drive mechanism or electric motor can be transferred by means of an endless loop driving the tape reel.

    摘要: A magnetic recording reproducing apparatus is made ready to operation by insertion thereto of a pack housing an endless recording medium. When a magnetic card is inserted into the apparatus with the pack inserted thereto, the contents, informations or data recorded on the magnetic card are read out and recorded on the endless recording medium and then the recorded contents, informations or data are reproduced from the endless recording medium. After passage of the magnetic card through the apparatus, the reproduction from the endless recording medium will repeatedly continue. When a magnetic card is inserted into the apparatus without any pack inserted thereto, a direct reproduction from the magnetic card is performed. When another type of a pack housing an endless recording medium having a longer playing time period is inserted into the apparatus, the reproduction from the recording medium can be effected, and any information transfer from the magnetic card to the recording medium cannot be performed and any direct reproduction from the magnetic card cannot be effected.

    摘要: Information reproducing and recording apparatus is disclosed which has a tape recorder mechanism, a disc recorder mechanism and an electric circuit for reproducing and recording and in which information obtained from the disc recorder mechanism is recorded on the side of the tape recorder mechanism in the state that the tape recorder mechanism and the disc recorder mechanism are in constant-speed forwarding and reproducing modes of operation, respectively. Switching of the disc recorder from a non-reproducing mode to the reproducing mode of operation is detected and, based on the detecting signal, the tape recorder mechanism is automatically changed over from a stop mode to the constant-speed forwarding mode of operation. Switching of the tape recorder mechanism from the stop mode to the constant-speed forwarding mode of operation is detected and, based on the detecting signal, the disc recorder mechanism is automatically altered from the non-reproducing mode to the reproducing mode of operation. Further, switching of the tape recorder mechanism from the constant-speed forwarding mode to, for example, the stop mode of operation is detected and, based on the detecting signal, the disc recorder mechanism is automatically switched from the reproducing mode to the non-reproducing mode of operation. Still further, switching of the disc recorder mechanism from the reproducing mode to the non-reproducing mode of operation is detected and, based on the detecting signal, the tape recorder mechanism is automatically switched from the constant-speed forwarding mode to the stop mode of operation, for example.
