    摘要: An LED-based backlighting system that provides excellent brightness and homogeneity suitable for high performance multi-color and high resolution portable displays such as for PDAs and cell phones. Several different but similar embodiments are disclosed. Some are suitable for use with multiple LEDs and some for use with a single LED. In a first such embodiment, multiple LEDs are located adjacent the input edge of a light pipe. The input edge contains fixed pitch grooves to propagate the LED light in a direction that is substantially angled toward the bottom surface of the light pipe along its entire area. The light pipe bottom surface also has grooves for altering the direction of the LED light toward the upper surface of the light pipe where it exits the light pipe toward a viewer. The exterior of the exit surface of the light pipe receives a light shaping diffuser (LSD) and an optical film. The diffuser acts to diffuse and distribute the exiting light at selected horizontal and vertical angles and the optical film shapes. In a second embodiment, a second LSD is positioned above the optical film. In a third embodiment, an LSD strip having a foreshortened LSD is positioned below the light pipe adjacent the input edge to better reduce hot spots near the LEDs.

The faceplate can be injection-molded with an optically clear plastic. The light-pipe includes a lens and a light guide. The lens focuses light from a light source toward the light guide and is shaped so as to focus and collect the light within a boundary of the light guide. The surface of the light guide includes a number of mini refracting lenses to promote illumination of the light. Alternatively, an ink can be applied on the surface of the light guide to promote the illumination of the light. Further, a diffusing lens can be formed on the surface of the light guide to promote illumination of the, light. The faceplate can include multiple light-pipes.

    摘要: A light conducting body has a generally conical through bore defined therein. The conical through bore includes a front bore part defined by a sloped surface and a rear bore part defined by a concave surface. A light conducting dial board is installed in the conical through bore with its front face facing forward and positioned in the vicinity of the junction portion between the front and rear bore parts. The dial board has a peripheral edge separated from the inner wall surface of the conical through bore thereby to define therebetween a circumferentially extending space. A light conducting supporting plate is attached to a rear surface of the dial board. The supporting plate is formed with a light transmitting portion which extends rearward and has an rear end intimately received in a recess formed in the rear end of the light conducting body. A plurality of light sources are positioned behind the rear end of the light conducting body. A first light introducing structure is defined by the rear end of the light conducting body, from which light from the light sources enters the light conducting body and travels toward the sloped and concave surfaces of the front and rear bore parts to illuminate the same from within. A second light introducing structure is defined by the light conducting supporting plate, through which light from the light sources enters the light conducting supporting plate and travels toward the dial board to illuminate the same from within.

The assembly also comprises at least one outer light conducting leg and at least one end light conducting leg.     摘要: A light guiding device of a liquid crystal display is disclosed. A liquid crystal module is installed with a light guiding module. The light guiding plate of the light guiding module has a refracting portion at one side. The middle section of the refracting portion is protruded out. A light guide bar has a light outlet surface at the side near the light guiding plate. The light outlet surface is a cambered concave surface. The middle section of the light outlet surface causes a thickness of the light guide bar to be thinner and thickness at two ends thereof bar being thicker. The light guide bar has a reflecting surface. Near the side of the light guide bar is installed with a cambered reflecting mask. Two ends of the light guide bar is installed with a respective LED point light source.
