Abstract: A suspended ceiling system in one embodiment includes a grid support member and a ceiling panel supported on the member. A resiliently compressible gasket is disposed at the interface between the grid support member and peripheral edge of the panel. The gasket may be fixedly attached to the panel peripheral edge in the factory under controlled conditions before shipment to the ceiling installation site. In one embodiment, the gasket may be adhesively attached to the panel. Mounting the ceiling panel on the grid support member compresses the gasket to preferably form a minimally visible air leakage resistant seal between the air plenum space above the ceiling panels and the occupied space below. This retards air exchange between the spaces which enhances heating/cooling efficiency, noise reduction and allows formation of pressurized clean rooms.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to support members for ceiling systems, such as those that can be formed into an interconnected grid to be suspended from a ceiling and support ceiling tiles. One aspect of the disclosure is a linearly-extending support member for a ceiling tile. The support member has a cross-sectional shape that includes a substantially vertical central web with a top end and a bottom end; at least one flange extending substantially horizontally from the bottom end of the web, the flange having an upper surface and a lower surface; and a bulb extending from the top end of the web, the bulb having a first side and a second side with a cavity therebetween, the bulb having an upper portion and a lower portion adjacent the top end of the web, wherein the entire lower portion of the bulb is narrower than the upper portion of the bulb and wider than the central web, the bulb comprising a series of spaced apertures formed therein through both the first side and the second side of the bulb, each aperture being disposed at least partially in the lower portion of the bulb, each aperture having an upper portion and a lower portion, wherein the upper portion of the aperture is rounded.

Abstract: Ceiling tiles for drop ceilings are disclosed. The ceiling tiles have a main portion that is sized and adapted to fit within a grid of the drop ceiling, and a baffle that hangs down from the main portion. A sheet of tile material may have a plurality of fold lines defined in it that allow the sheet to fold in such a way as to define the main portion and the baffle. In the flat configuration, the sheet of tile material may have the dimensions of a standard drop ceiling tile; in the folded configuration, the ceiling tiles may also have standard ceiling-tile dimensions. A single ceiling tile may have two or more baffles, and those baffles may be staggered in position with respect to one another.

Abstract: Ceiling tiles for drop ceilings are disclosed. The ceiling tiles have a main portion that is comprised of a sheet of material, such as tile material, and a baffle portion. The main portion has an enclosed slot, and the baffle portion inserts into the slot such that with the ceiling tile in an installed orientation, the baffle portion extends downwardly from the main portion. The baffle portion has a flange on one end that is larger than the slot in at least one of width or length, such that the flange retains the baffle portion in the slot. Drop ceilings that use these ceiling tiles are also disclosed.
