    Abstract: A laterally sliding type opening/closing gate of a torsion structure of reasonable cost is implemented. The gate includes: the torsion structure having a closed cross-section consisting of a thin wall installed such that it may cross a sluice and be composed such that its cross-section may make an in-plane rotation around a restriction point on the cross-section and that a torsion moment generated by an applied load and reaction force on the restriction point is transmitted to its terminal due to its torsion rigidity; and a rail that is installed such that it may cross the sluice; and a plurality of axle type supports that has a function of a restriction point and moves along the rail.

    Abstract: A dynamic fluid flow control structure is provided that allows precise control over fluid flow using a series of two or more orifices, at least one of which may be reconfigured to change its flow characteristics. A flood control system and a flood control process are provided that emulate a preset discharge profile over time. Some versions of the structure, process, and system can be used to provide controlled storm discharge patterns in a developed area that emulate the natural pre-development discharge patterns.

    Abstract: A marine gate has a buoyant variable length barrier and a cable management system employing two cables or lines. An opening line extends through the barrier to move the barrier from an expanded position (gate is closed) to a retracted position (gate is open) via a winch. A closing line moves the barrier from the retracted position to the expanded position using a winch. A weight is attached to the closing line for moving a submerged portion of the line to the seafloor when the barrier gate is retracted and the closing line is payed out by operation of its winch. The weighted line allows a portion or the entire cable system to be under tension at all times. The resulting cable geometry allows vessel operators confidence in knowing the cable location in the water depths at the gate, whether the gate is fully or partially opened.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a safety edge for horizontally pivoted rolling gates actuated by a motor unit. It consists of a profile (11) made of rubber or other soft flexible material and having a base (14) for its application to a rolling date, and of two electrical conductors (15, 16) extending longitudinally into the soft profile, parallel and normally separate from one another.     Abstract: Disclosed is an embanking arrangement for separating and protecting a first water volume from a second water volume, including a barrier connected to land and having an opening, a stationary basis extending across the opening, and a mobile port arrangement including a hull delimiting an inner tank. The embanking arrangement takes closed and open states respectively, wherein the inner tank of the port arrangement is at least partly filled with water and the hull of the port arrangement is standing on the basis when the embanking arrangement is in the closed state. The port arrangement is floating in the open state. The port arrangement includes at least a first opening connecting the inner tank and the first water volume, and including a controllable valve, and a pump connected with the second water volume to transport water from the first water volume to the second water volume.
