The debris-flow discharge channel has a main drainage channel for discharging a debris flow and an auxiliary channel provided outside of the main drainage channel. The side walls of the auxiliary channel are integrated with the side walls of the main drainage channel or provided outside of the side walls of the main drainage channel. The debris-flow discharge channel also has a break section integrated into a side wall of the auxiliary channel. The top width of the break section is equal to the top width of the auxiliary channel A method for designing and building the asymmetric debris-flow discharge channel is also provided, which provides a lower initial cost, higher safety performance, and a lower maintenance cost at the operating stage.

An alignment device is disclosed use in maintaining the alignment of longitudinal frame members of a trench-forming assembly. The alignment device comprises a cross member. Extending in the same direction from opposite ends of the cross member is at least one pair of first lateral extensions. The pair of lateral extensions is spaced apart so as to contact the respective longitudinal frame members of the trench-forming assembly, and thereby maintain the two frame members at a distance relative to each other. The alignment device may further include at least one interior extension extending from the cross member in the same direction as the pair of first lateral extensions. In this embodiment, the interior extension defines a slot between the interior extension and at least one of the first lateral extensions, where the slot is structured is to receive at least a portion of one of the longitudinal frame members.

The present invention relates to a method for recovering an underwater ecosystem of a river. In particular, the method for recovering an underwater ecosystem of a river comprises a first step of constructing an upstream blocking wall at the same level as the bottom of a river such that the bottom of the river is positioned in the same line as upper surfaces of the upstream blocking wall; a second step of constructing a downstream blocking wall at the same level as the bottom of the river at a position spaced apart from the upstream blocking wall by a predetermined distance such that the bottom of the river is positioned in the same line as an upper surface of the downstream blocking wall; and a third step of dredging the bottom of the river in a predetermined depth according to a planned depth of water of the river and constructing a reservoir between the upstream and downstream blocking walls to release various kinds of underwater organisms suitable to regional characteristics, wherein the first to third steps are repeated to form a plurality of pond regions along the river. The method of the present invention further comprises a fourth step of constructing shallow regions for water purification between the plurality of pond regions. Therefore, there are advantages in that the underwater ecosystem of a river can be recovered and maintained healthily and the contamination of river can be prevented through the improvement of natural purification capability of the river, whereby a natural ecosystem including the ecosystem of an existing river can be kept more healthily and the river may be thus easily utilized as a water-friendly space.

A manhole channel liner includes a plurality of channel liner sections. The manhole channel liner routes the flow between at least two pipes that enter a wall of a manhole. Each channel liner section includes a flow channel formed in a top thereof. The plurality of channel liner sections are laid in the manhole to connect the flow from at least one inlet pipe extending through a wall of the manhole to at least one outlet pipe. The manhole channel liner is preferably held in place with a wet pour material, after thereof have been aligned. A channel system for forming a trench is disclosed that includes a number of precast drainage channel sections and one or more alignment keys for aligning and interlocking adjacent channel sections. Each alignment key includes a base shaped for laterally bridging across a predetermined exterior portion of adjacent bottom walls of the adjacent channel sections. The alignment key also includes first and second opposed, inwardly facing jaw members shaped for longitudinally bridging across a predetermined exterior portion of adjacent first and second sidewalls, respectively, of the adjacent channel sections. Each pair of the jaw members can be carried by a respective base, and can be positioned in a lateral and longitudinal direction relative to the respective base to thereby substantially align and interlock the adjacent channel sections.

One of the ribs may have a header portion thereon sized to fit under the shingles on the roof of the building on which the rain gutter is mounted. Alternatively, each rib may have a channel formed in the lateral edge of that rib which is not attached to the elongated layerless screen so that the channels snap fit over the edge of a rain gutter. The method of installation may involve not only the use of the preferred rib structure, but also simply gluing or bolting one lateral edge of the elongated layerless screen to the lip of the rain gutter most distant from the building to which the rain gutter is mounted and, then, attaching the other lateral edge of the elongated layerless screen to the roof of that building.

An elongate drainage channel capable of receiving runoff from an athletic surface is provided which includes a bottom wall and a pair of sidewalls extending upwardly from the opposed sides of the bottom wall. The drainage channel also includes a projection extending transversely outwardly from the exterior of at least one of the sidewalls and spaced at a predetermined distance below the open top for defining a height to which a subsurface layer is applied adjacent to the drainage channel. The projection is also fracturable from the sidewall so as to act as a mechanical fuse to prevent vibratory or tamping machinery from damaging the drainage channel. In another embodiment of the invention, an elongate channel section is provided which has a bottom surface which includes end portions which are shaped as generally planar reference surfaces. The shaped reference surfaces are generally coplanar with each other and are spaced at a predetermined distance below the open top of the channel for supporting the opposed ends of the channel section in a properly aligned position. The present invention also includes a mold for making drainage channel sections having aligned reference surfaces and associated methods for molding the drainage channel sections and for installing the drainage channel.

An elongate grate capable of securing an edge portion of an artificial turf surface within a drainage channel is provided. The grate includes an elongate central portion defining a plurality of openings to permit runoff from the artificial turf surface to flow into the drainage channel. Connected to at least one exterior edge of the central portion is a downwardly extending wall portion being interior of the exterior edge for applying a downwardly directed engagement force to the edge portion of the artificial turf surface. According to another embodiment of the grate, an elongate slot is integrally defined in the central portion having a width such the edge portion of the artificial turf can be frictionally engaged therein. According to yet another embodiment, a grate is provided with a central portion positioned between opposed edge portions and defines a plurality of openings therein such that an impervious athletic surface can be formed over each of the edge portions. Associated methods of forming drainable athletic playing surfaces also form a part of the invention.
