The present invention provides a patterning unit of a warp knitting machine having a holding member with a stator of a linear pulse motor disposed thereon and a plurality of moving elements provided at arbitrary intervals on the holding member with parts of the moving elements being constructed as guide points. A control method increases reliability and accuracy of positioning the moving elements and eliminates erroneous operation such as step-out by providing a position sensor related to poles of the stator and by exciting movement of the moving elements on a step by step basis based upon positions of the moving elements. The control method includes providing the moving elements each with a linear motor coil assembly for functioning in conjunction with the stator, defining the poles, to move the moving elements along the holding member.

A patterning method and device has yarn guides for guiding pattern yarns in a warp knitting machine and divisional fall plates for knitting pattern yarns in a fall plate structure individually drive-controlled through drive devices. The device comprises any number of moveable bodies having yarn guides, the bodies being installed for movement along a row of knitting needles by the drive devices. For patterning, the moveable bodies are moved through a desired distance along the row of knitting needles so as to be positioned for patterning, thereby providing a patterning zone for pattern yarns corresponding to the number of yarn guides. Thus, it is possible to effect a free varigated patterning which is comparable with the patterning effect provided by the Jacquard control. Further, it possible to attain the knitting of a fall plate structure, in addition to the patterning by the aforesaid yarn guides, by moving any number of the moveable bodies having yarn guides and/or any number of moveable bodies having divisional fall plates by the drive devices to produce a fall plate-like action, without requiring a device of large scale.

In a method for manufacturing a warp knitted fabric, the guides can also be displaced by one needle space (pitch) in addition to the overlap and underlap shog of the guide bar, so that the guides are not only selectively displaceable during the underlap shog, but also selectively during the overlap shog. A warp knitting machine for the purpose of carrying out the method comprises at least one thread system which consists of pattern threads laid in intermixed, varying patterns. These pattern threads have underlaps of n, n+1 and n-1 needle spaces and can produce a float and/or a twill. The number of pattern possibilities can be increased in this manner.

A guide bar arrangement for a warp knitting machine has at least one guide bar, which is axially displaceable by means of a displacing arrangement and is carried, suitably on an axially rigid holding arrangement attached to a swinging shaft, through the intermediation of a compensating arrangement. The compensating arrangement and the displacement arrangement include bending transducers, which are attached at one end thereof on the holding arrangement (a lever 19 holding rails) and on the other end thereof on the guide bar and are bendably deformed under the influence of a direct current control signal. This leads to a simple construction of the guide bar arrangement with little frictional loss.

Warp knitting machine with guide bars adjusted according to a pattern by means of displacement stepping motors, which receive their displacement information in the form of a certain number of displacement pulses from a pattern memory of a control device.For determining and correcting the guide bar position of a warp knitting machine shut down in underlay position, the indicator of an electrical proximity switch is connected with each guide bar, whose sensor is mounted on a measurement slider shiftable in the displacement direction of the guide bar, said slider being shiftable by means of a measurement stepping motor over the displacement range of the indicator beginning from a start position, which corresponds to the zero-position of the guide bar. A pulse counter is provided for counting the steps of the measurement stepping motor during this shifting up to the point of coincidence of the indicator and sensor, whose counting result is compared by means of a comparator with the displacement pulse number defining the shifting for a given pattern, which is obtainable from the pattern memory. The difference determined by the comparator is fed to the associated displacement stepping motor as a correction pulse number.

Cam gear for textile machines, especially for pattern controlling of warp-knitting (chain stitching) machines. Generally, the development concerns a cam gear for textile machines having cams. The present configuration avoids the interferences, caused by oscillations, in the cam gears of textile machines. One advantage is that the occurring oscillations are influenced, and resonance phenomena are avoided, within the practical range of the normal rotation speed of textile machines. The present development accomplished a result, whereby the rest areas of the cam profile of the cam are configured as curved rest area, of which each individual one has a variable rest height, which corresponds only in one single point with the required rest height, and which is assigned to each curved rest area, in reference to the reversal of the direction of movement of the transition, as well as to each curved rest area, in reference to a range of transition without displacement, to a portion of the cam which exceeds the corresponding rest height. The cam gear is utilizable for the gear systems of the working mechanism of textile machines, for instance for pattern controlling of warp-knitting machines, i.e., chain stitching machines.

There is provided an electromagnetically controllable coupling means between the drive shaft and a cam element of a textile machine. A latch mounted on the cam element and rotatable with it is biasable by a spring to interact with grooves in said drive shaft. Two rocker arms rotatable about fixed axes are each provided with a strikers and are swingable back and forth between a first position in which said striker holds the latch out of interaction with the grooves and a second position in which the latch is released in order to interact with said grooves. A pair of anchors influenced by program directed electromagnets serve to hold the said rocker arms in the first position. A stopping arrangement prevents further rotation of the cam means when the latch moves from one into the other of the aforementioned rotation positions. Each anchor attached to the appropriate arm is in the first position of the rocker arm presented proximate to the pole face of its appropriate electromagnet. The electromagnets are provided with a permanent magnetic field and a charge winding which when, activated causes the anchors, because of the spring biasing action upon the arm, to move out of contact with said electromagnet.
