Abstract: A method for granulating a slurry in a fluidized bed granulator having a main longitudinal direction from a seed end where granulation is initiated, to a product discharge end where granules are discharged from the fluidized bed granulator, including at least one fluidized bed compartment, an injection section and a granulation section, separated by a bottom plate including one or more injection nozzles, wherein a feed slurry is provided to the injection section, wherein a first fraction of the feed slurry provided to the injection section is injected into the granulation section through the one or more injection nozzles and a second fraction of the feed slurry, being the remainder of the feed slurry, is passed through the injection section without being injected into the granulation section. A fluidized bed granulator for the granulation of slurries for fertilizer products such as UAS according to the method of the invention.

Abstract: A fertilizer comprises an intermediate-release source of phosphorus. The intermediate-source of phosphorus may be schertelite. In one embodiment, the intermediate-source of phosphorus may consist substantially all of the phosphorous content in the fertilizer. In other embodiments, the fertilizer further comprises one or both of a slow-release and fast-release source of phosphorus. The fertilizer may be in the form of a homogenous prill. A number of methods may be used to make such fertilizers.

Abstract: Fertilizer granules containing elemental sulfur and a hydrogel which expands or swells in the soil to more readily disperse the elemental sulfur surface throughout the soil, which increases the elemental sulfur surface area available for oxidation, and ultimately uptake of sulfur by the plant. The elemental sulfur and hydrogel can be added to a fertilizer composition as either an exterior coating or co-granulated with the base fertilizer composition.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides robust fertilizer particles suitable for fertigation. A composition comprising mineral oil, primary alkylamines and water-insoluble particles may coat fertilizer particles and make them suitable for fertigation. Furthermore, the coated particles display reduced dusting tendency. The coating composition may be applied as a thin, single, continuous layer covering the particle core. The coating may avoid surface film problems when the particles are dissolved in water, even if the very hydrophobic mineral oil is less dense than water. It may be counterintuitive to include water-insoluble particles in a fertilizer particle for fertigation, however the claimed particles may be dissolved to make a fertigation solution that avoid problems in tanks, nozzles and piping of the fertigation systems.
