Abstract: A method of labeling product packages on a thermoforming packaging machine is provided to prevent the unnecessary dispensing of labels onto unfilled, improperly filled and absent product packages. Crosswise rows of product packages are moved in a downstream transport direction on the thermoforming machine using alternating dwell and advancing intervals. A labeling device mounted on the thermoforming packaging machine moves back and forth between a downstream position and an upstream position and applies to the product packages while the labeling device is moving from the downstream position to the upstream position and while the labeling device is moving from the upstream position to the downstream position. One or more sensors positioned on the thermoforming packaging machine upstream from the upstream position of the labeling device identify the presence of any unfilled, improperly filled or absent product packages in the crosswise rows of product packages before they reach the upstream position of the labeling device to prevent the labeling device from applying labels to any such product packages. A thermoforming packaging machine is also provided on which the method may be performed.

Abstract: A mechanism used to select a label size to be applied to a cable in a label applicator. The mechanism includes an index plate, an index arm, and a wedge carrier. The index arm is pivotably mounted to the index plate and the wedge carrier is mounted to the index plate. The wedge carrier has guide rollers that dictate a label path. The index arm moves the index plate which linearly moves the wedge carrier thereby adjusting the label path in the label applicator.

Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for cutting individual label strips from a roll of label web utilizing a cutter assembly. A label cutter comprises a cutter assembly for continuously and independently controlling the rotational speeds of a rotating cutter shaft, a stationary shaft, and a label feed roller is provided. The length of the label strip is controlled by the distinct speed of rotation of a stationary knife, the stationary knife is rotatably coupled to the stationary shaft. At least one cutter blade is operatively associated to the rotating cutter shaft for cutting the label web. The stationary knife rotates with a speed of rotation different from the speed of rotation of the cutter blade to produce longer or shorter label length strips. The frequency at which the cutter blade meets the stationary knife is inversely related to the length of the label strip that is produced during cut off.

Abstract: A label wrapping device configured to warp a label around a cable includes a stripping part, a conveying roller, an insertion recess, a driving part and a controller. The conveying roller conveys the label peeled off a release paper by the stripping part in a conveying direction along a conveying path. The insertion recess is positioned downstream of the conveying roller in the conveying direction and is open toward the conveying path. The controller is configured to control the driving part: (a) to enable the conveying roller to convey the label peeled off the release paper in the conveying direction; and (b) to enable the conveying roller to halt conveyance of the label when an upstream end of the label becomes positioned downstream relative to the stripping part in the conveying direction and after the label covers at least a portion of an opening of the insertion recess.

Abstract: A weighing and labeling system has an electronic scale, label printer, and at least one controller. The controller stores information about incoming food packages and drives the printer to produce labels based on the stored information and the weight of the food packages. The labels are transferred to the food packages. Some elements of the system are located in sealable cabinets, and further, some of the elements are mounted on the interior surface on doors hinged to the sealable cabinets. This is advantageous in food production environments requiring frequent cleaning of equipment with sprayed water. In some embodiments the sealable cabinets are positioned on vertical masts and rotatable on the masts.
