摘要： An alert apparatus for use with a vehicle is provided having a horn capable of producing a sound and a first sensor adapted to determine a speed of the vehicle. A controller is coupled to the first sensor and the horn and adapted to activate the horn such that characteristics of the sound are determined based on the speed. A horn switch may also be coupled to the controller to activate the horn upon application of a force by an operator. A method of operating a vehicle horn is also provided. According to the method, an output is obtained from a sensor representative of a speed of a vehicle. The output is processed by the use of a controller to determine a desired horn characteristic, and the vehicle horn is activated to produce the desired horn characteristic.

摘要： A speed indicating means includes an induction unit for detecting a speed to generate a speed signal, which is sent to an operation & comparison control unit for operation and comparison, so that a control signal is output to an indicating unit. The indicating unit includes differently colored luminescent sheets attached to an outer end of an exhaust pipe to represent different ranges of speed. A corresponding one of the luminescent sheets is caused by the control signal to produce color light to warn a car following behind the current speed of the preceding car. Alternatively, the luminescent sheets may be controlled via a switch to produce color light as a decoration for the car.

摘要： A vehicle information system which includes an in-vehicle system 105 and a centralized server system 120. The in-vehicle system communicates with the server system using a wireless communication link 110, such as over a cellular telephone system. A position system, such as a set of GPS satellites 140, provides positioning signals that are used by the in-vehicle systems, and optionally by the centralized server system to increase the accuracy of position estimates. In one version of the system, an operator specifies a destination to an in-vehicle system which validates the destination. The in-vehicle system transmits specification of the destination to a server system 125 at the centralized server. The server system computes a route to the destination and transmits the computed route to the in-vehicle system. The in-vehicle system guides the operator along the route. If the in-vehicle system detects that the vehicle has deviated from the planned route, it replans a new route to the destination using an in-vehicle map database.

摘要： A rear light warning system for vehicles to indicate to drivers of trailing vehicles that the leading vehicle is slowing down, moving slow or stopping to reduce the likelihood of rear-end collisions. The system has rearwardly illuminating warning lights attached to the rear of the vehicle, a speed sensor and an integrated circuit, all of which are independent of the brake or accelerator pedals. The speed sensor determines the relative speed of the vehicle and the integrated circuit compares the electrical signal with that for a predetermined minimum base speed level. If the vehicle is traveling at less than the base speed level, then the warning lights are activated. The speed sensor can determine the relative speed by measuring the rotation of the wheel, rotation of an inner cable in a mechanical speedometer cable, a signal from an electronic speedometer or sensing a reflective wavelength off the ground.
