摘要： An intravaginal contraceptive device formed of a ring having a central sheet of resilient impermeable material sandwiched between two layers of foam rubber. The foam rubber traps sperm and bacteria in a vaginal recess for a time sufficient to be destoyed by the normal acid pH of the vaginal secretions. The ring defines the sheet material into a cup-shape with four sides, one pair of opposing sides including a wire core inwardly bent and another pair of sides with one outwardly rounded and the other having a fork configuration. A normally closed flap valve is formed in the sheet with an attached extension for opening the flap.

摘要： The disclosure embraces a contraceptive device of the type comprising a cral stem and a device for maintaining in place the said stem at the interior of the uterine cavity of a subject, the device being composed of two elastic arms symmetrical in relation to the stem integral therewith at its tip; the arms naturally occupy a position in which they diverge beyond the tip by making an angle of value at least equal to that of the angle that is generally formed between each other of the two y-shaped channels of the uterus of females of a given animal species and more particularly the canine species so that the arms can be engaged in the y-shaped parts and can be maintained there by spreading effect produced by their natural elasticity.

摘要： The present invention provides a springless diaphragm which is adapted to be inserted into a vaginal vault for birth control and which comprises a resilient rim member composed of a first flexible material, and a dome member which is composed of a second flexible material. The rim member is securely bonded to the dome member and extends continuously thereabout along the lower perimeter thereof. The dome member is provided in its uppermost portion with a substantially thicker portion in order to permit formation of the device without danger of rupture during the molding process. The first flexible material and the second flexible material are required to have Durometers within specified ranges, and the rim member may be further provided with opposing outwardly projecting sections in order to enhance the spring modulus of the rim member upon flexing of this portion of the diaphragm prior to insertion.

摘要： The applicator for inserting a pessary into the uterus, which pessary comprises a chain combined with a distal coil screwable into the base of the uterus. The applicator has an inner shaft, which received the chain in its leading end, installed in an outer shaft and with its leading end securing the nearer of the coil in a formlocked or forcelocked manner, as well as a handle at the opposite end of the shaft whose rotation and axial displacement allow screwing the coil out of the outer shaft and into the base of the uterus to the extend of its longitudinal dimension. The outer and inner shafts are withdrawable from the uterus with respect to the screwed-in coil and chain which are to be released, after completion of the application. 7

摘要： A reusable retraction device is provided which is adapted to remove an object such as, for example, a vaginal sponge from a woman's vagina. The retraction device comprises an outer barrel open at both its upper and lower ends and having a center aperture passing through the center thereof. Retraction element is provided within the barrel and extend from its upper end. The retraction element is adapted to open and close to permit gripping and release of the sponge after insertion of the barrel into the vagina. The opening and closing of the retraction element is achieved using control, i.e. gripping elements which extend outwardly from the lower end of the barrel and are in substantially the same plane as the barrel.

摘要： A method for making a cervical contraceptive diaphragm provides for fabricating the entire dome assembly in a separate step, thereafter inserting a toroidal spring within a toroidal chamber pre-formed in a flange affixed to the base of the dome structure, the spring being sealed in by a separate sealing process preferably by a thin filament of vulcanizable rubber laid along the flange away from the spring. Local heating of the filament to cure it and seal the flange about the spring provides for a spring not interpenetrated by liquid elastomer during the curing process, resulting in a free floating spring. The method allows the fabrication of structures employing relatively stiff springs of limited radial compliance, so that the diaphragm may be removed from the first forming mold with minimum loss arising from tearing of the lip.
