    Abstract: A locking mechanism for enabling a fishing plier to remain a closed state includes a fixed plier handle and a movable plier handle. The middle portion of the fixed plier handle is integrally provided with a first rotating part, and the middle portion of the movable plier handle is integrally provided with a second rotating part. The first rotating part and the second rotating part are rotatably connected through a fixed shaft assembly. A knob is disposed on the outer side of the first rotating part. Straight slide grooves are disposed between the second rotating part and the first rotating part. The inner end surface of the knob is provided with a control groove. A locking pin is inserted between the straight slide groove on the second rotating part, the straight slide groove on the first rotating part, and the control groove of the knob.

    Abstract: A gated fishing hook includes a shaft portion a first terminal end having a line eye. A hook portion extends from the shaft portion and includes a second terminal end having a point. A notch is defined on an inner surface of the hook portion below the second terminal end. A gate includes a looped wire having a first end coupled to a connection point disposed in between the shaft portion and the hook portion. The gate extends towards the notch and includes a bend spring biased within the notch. The gate is configured to pivot downward against the spring bias when a fish bites the hook, capturing a portion of a fish's lip in between the hook portion and the gate.

    Abstract: A fish receptacle. The fish receptacle includes a container having a hinged lid with a door assembly providing access to an interior of the container. The door assembly enables users to engage a fish, hands free, thereby enabling users to manipulate the fish and subsequently store it in the interior of the container without utilizing their hands. The door assembly includes an aperture and a frame therearound, wherein the aperture provides access to the interior of the container. The frame includes a track having rails and slot, wherein a sliding member is slidably disposed. The sliding member is movable between a closed position and an open position along the track, thereby enabling the sliding door assembly to be opened to expose the aperture and/or closed onto a fish to pin it against a wall of the frame for hands free manipulation.

    Abstract: A fishing hook remover with a V (10D) shape on the front end. Used to position and secure fishing hooks. The back end of the de-hooker has handle (20) is attached to body (12) and trigger (22) is attached to handle (20). V (10D) is part of jay (10), which is attached to the front end of tubular body (12). Shaft (14) is position in the center of body (12) by front space (26) and back spacer (28). The two spacers (26) and (28) have holes in their centers, which allow shaft (14) to slide. The back end of shaft (14) has a pivotal connection to front link (16). The back end of front link (16) has a pivotal connection to back link (18) and the back end of back link (18) has a pivotal connection to body (12). When trigger (22) is fully out front link (16) and back link (18) form proximately a 90-degree angle at their common connection. When trigger (22) is depressed it causes the angle between front link (16) and back link (18) to increase this in turn push shaft (14) towards point (10A). When trigger (22) is fully depressed shaft (14), front link (16) and back link (18) are in a straight line and the front end of shaft (14) is touching jay (10) at point (10A). Spring (24) pushes trigger (22) out when it is released. Fishing hooks are secured by being pushed against point (10A) by shaft (14).

    Abstract: A live eel hook-insertion device. A hand-operated unit is disclosed that generally comprises a T-handle/trigger driving a spring-mounted plunger through a housing, an open-ended eel nesting tube at one end of the housing and defined by a lateral notch, and a distal yoke on the plunger for immobilizing an eel within the nesting tube. The T-handle trigger is actuated to trap the eel, whereupon a hook can be easily inserted into the eel. The nesting tube is further defined by a lengthwise notch to allow extraction of fishing line if the eel backs out of the nesting tube with hook attached. In use, the device is inserted into a bait well full of eels and the nesting tube is placed flat against the bottom. One eel will enter the nesting tube, whereupon the yoke is distended to trap the eel against the floor of the nesting tube. A hook with attached fishing line is inserted through the notch of the nesting tube and the eel is thereby hooked. A stationery hook-insertion device is also disclosed, and this comprises a hopper formed with a drain hole and an external neck at the drain hole, an articulated mounting bracket for the hopper, a tubular chute connected to the neck of the hopper and protruding downward therefrom, and a constricted yoke at the distal end of the tubular chute for immobilizing an eel inside said tubular chute with a portion of the eel protruding outward through the yoke for hook insertion. The eels tend to slide through the hole in the hopper and down the chute, extending its lips out of the chute for hooking the eel. Both disclosed embodiments eliminate the need to chase, catch, handle, or untangle live eels thus making this whole process of baiting them quick, clean, and easy.

    Abstract: A combination bobber and fish hook remover means. An elongate rod member is fixedly secured to and depends from a bouyant bobber means. The rod member has a groove that extends from its mid section to its free end, and a sleeve member having a slot is mounted for rotation relative to the rod member so that when the slot and groove are in alignment with one another, a fish line can be inserted into the groove. Misalignment of the slot and groove then locks the line into the groove so that the invention can be used. A transverse bore formed in the rod member and an eyehook attached to the top of the bobber, together with a cross bar member, cooperate to provide a means for tying the novel combinational apparatus to a fish line.

    Abstract: A monolithic, rigid minnow dipper constructed of clear or transparent material (plastic in the preferred embodiment), including a handle and a scoop portion. The handle is hollow and conical, and serves to trap individual minnows so that they may be hooked to serve as live fishing bait. The scoop portion includes perforated sidewalls, an unperforated end wall and an unperforated lower portion which tapers toward a funneled trough-shaped handle having a cross-section shaped like a minnow. The trough opening of the handle serves to permit a hook to be inserted into the trapped minnow and, after the minnow is slipped backward a short distance, is wide enough to remove the hooked minnow there through. The handle is affixed to the scoop portion at such an angle that when held level it permits the minnow to swim headfirst into the handle. The handle has sufficient perforations to release water as it flows through the handle. In the preferred embodiment, the top contour on scoop portion is shaped on the end opposite the handle to approximate the contour of the inside of a minnow bucket.
