摘要: A sugar beet harvest apparatus provides in sequence a pair of field cultivator teeth, a pair of discs or helical screw propellers, and a V-shaped basket of helical screw propellers. The field cultivator teeth and discs may be spaced nominally to engage both sides of a single crop row, or to engage one side of a first crop row, and the opposed side of a second adjacent crop row. In either case, the field cultivator teeth pierce the soil and gently lift the root crop. The discs or helical screw propellers lift the beets and soil into the V-shaped basket of helical screw propellers. Within the V-shaped basket, a pair of ground-level helical screw propellers lift the root crop, while pulverizing the soil and cleaning the root crop. Subsequent helical screw propellers continue to lift the root crop, while pushing rocks and soil rearward proximate to the soil surface.

摘要: A root crop harvester apparatus includes a transverse frame, supported to move above ground in a harvesting direction and oriented generally perpendicular to the harvesting direction. A plurality of pairs of generally upright, spaced apart puller wheels are connected to the transverse frame in a trailing orientation, having a substantially common rotational axis, and configured to contact the ground, each pair having a pinch point therebetween. The transverse frame is pivotal about an axis that is substantially aligned with the substantially common rotational axis, whereby rotation of the transverse frame collectively rotates all of the pairs of puller wheels about the common rotational axis and thereby adjusts a location of all of the pinch points with respect to the harvesting direction.

摘要: An improved root crop harvester having a narrow and compact processing chassis adapted to simply and easily receive header assemblies of differing capacities. The header assemblies include a transverse roll conveyor for gathering roots received from the digger wheels into a stream for discharge through a central opening in the transverse conveyor to a fore-and-aft extending roll conveyor carried by the processing chassis. The fore-and-aft roll conveyor is inclined upwardly from front to rear to increase the scrubbing and tumbling action and is also provided with a reversing roll section at its rearward end to discharge the roots to the side. The fore-and-aft conveyor is also sloped across its width at its rearward end to aid in discharging roots transversely to the roll conveyor length. The conveyors on the processing chassis are carried between the support wheels to reduce side drafts, minimize wheel slippage in wet field conditions and improve transport maneuverability.

摘要: The invention achieves a mechanical device for pulling seedling plants from the ground in greenhouses and for conveying them by conveyor to a collection receptacle for grading the more mature or better quality plants. Essentially the invention includes an inclined conveyor formed by a pair loop belts, each belt travelling between an idler pulley and a drive wheel, such that the loop belts, being composed of a resilient material such as sponge rubber, are placed in an abutting juxtaposed position to thereby co-operatively form the mechanism which pulls the plant from the ground and as well conveys the plant from the ground toward the collection receptacle.

摘要: A mobile device for harvesting tree seedlings includes means for subsurface cutting to separate and loosen from the surrounding ground the body of earth adjoining the roots of the tree seedlings. The movement and relative position of the earth separating means enables it to efficiently sever the roots of the tree seedlings from the surrounding ground while allowing only a minimum amount of earth of adhere to the roots of the seedlings as they are removed. A plurality of paired gripper belts remove the loosened seedlings by lifting them upwardly and rearwardly relative to the ground, each pair of gripper belts having male-female intercoupled gripping surfaces which minimize damage to the stems of the seedlings. Disposed below the gripper belts are a plurality of elongated root beater means adapted to move in a transverse oscillatory manner to agitate the roots and remove the earth adhering thereto without damaging the seedlings. A drive linkage mechanism controls the movement of the root beater means and balances the forces resulting therefrom to substantially reduce vibration in the harvester. Finally, an improved sheave structure for the gripper belt drive mechanism enables worn-out bearings to be readily replaced without replacing the entire sheave structure.

摘要: A frame having weed pulling apparatus attached thereto is adapted to be attached to a tractor hitch for lifting or lowering the frame. Pairs of pneumatic tires are rotatably mounted along substantially parallel axes. Each of the pneumatic tires has an axle with a sprocket affixed thereto. A chain is arranged to be disposed over a first sprocket and under the next adjacent sprocket, and so forth, for each adjacent sprocket such that each adjacent sprocket and thereby each adjacent wheel will rotate in an opposite direction. A chain lubricating structure is also attached to the frame. Weed guiding mechanisms are provided to prevent pulled plants from being deposited on top of the frame. Two wheels are pivotally attached to the frame in association with hydraulic cylinders. These wheels act as gauge wheels for maintaining the weed pulling apparatus at a desired distance above the ground when in operation, and these wheels also act as transport wheels for moving the weed pulling apparatus to and from the places where it is to be used.
