Abstract: A cultivating disc for a tillage implement includes an attachment portion positioned at a radial center of the cultivating disc. The attachment portion includes one or more attachment features configured to couple the cultivating disc to the tillage implement about an axis of rotation of the cultivating disc. The attachment portion extends along a first plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the cultivating disc. The cultivating disc also includes a cutting edge portion positioned at a distal end of the cultivating disc relative to the axis of rotation. The cutting edge portion extends along a second plane parallel to the first plane. The cultivating disc further includes a curved connecting portion positioned between and connecting the attachment portion to the cutting edge portion. The curved connecting portion further defines one or more radii of curvature.

Abstract: There is disclosed an earth cutting apparatus (200) comprising a plurality of articulated elements (210, 212) including at least a first element (210) having a mounting structure (214) thereon and an adjacent second element (212) hingedly connected to the first element (210). An earth cutting member (216) is provided including a proximal end (216.1) which is pivotally mounted to the mounting structure (214) of the first element (210) and an earth cutting end (216.2). The earth cutting member (216) is slidably connected (218) to the adjacent second element (212) and moveable between an extended position (220) and a retracted position (222), such that hinged movement of the adjacent second element (212) relative to the first element (210) causes the earth cutting member (216) to slidably extend from the adjacent second element (212) to the extended position (220) for operatively cutting earth. Hinged movement of the adjacent second element (212) in an opposite direction causes the earth cutting member (216) to slidably retract to the retracted position (222).

Abstract: A dust-control apparatus may be used in combination with tilling, cultivating, harvesting, construction machinery, and other mobile soil treatment implements. The apparatus applies mist to dust particles where the mist is created by pumping water or other liquid through nozzles. Because the apparatus is used in combination with the operation of the dust-generating machinery, the dust suppressing mist is applied nearly simultaneously to the generation of the dust by the agitation of the soil by the machinery. In one embodiment of the device, the operation of the pump or valves which control liquid flow to the nozzles is automatically activated by a optical sensor. The optical sensors cause either the starting of a pump or opening of a valve thereby increasing or decreasing the pressure and/or volume of the liquid upon the dust level reaching a preset trigger point as detected by the sensor.

Abstract: A plow has coupling members at its forward side for connection to a multi-point hitch of a tractor. Furrow slicing members at the front form furrow slices which are elevated to furrow turning drums during operation. The furrow slices are turned about their longitudinal axes and deposited to the rear by the rotating drums. The drums are mounted on rollers and driven preferably by a hydraulic motor to rotate about upwardly and forwardly extending axes at variable speeds so that the angle through which each slice is turned can be adjusted depending on the soil condition. Projections within the drums turn the furrow slices which can be inverted and deposited to the rear. Also, an upper guide roller or auger can be located above the drums to guide and/or laterally displace the slices as they enter the drums.

Abstract: A plow is structured to wholly or partly invert a furrow slice during operation. The furrow slice is cut loose by a leading V-shaped blade and is both compressed, and deflected laterally towards a side wall of the frame by a plurality of rotary lateral displacing rollers arranged in a row inclined to the direction of travel. The rollers are preferably of progressively increasing size towards the rear and co-operate with a soil guide surface at the rear of the plow in turning the furrow slice about an axis which extends in the direction of travel to deposit the slice substantially completely back into the furrow from which it was originally cut. In one version, the row of displacing rollers leads to a power-driven rotary soil guide unit of annular formation, the inverted furrow slice being delivered back into the furrow from which it was cut through the interior of the unit.

Abstract: A hay machine for working crop lying on the ground, such as a side-delivery rake, a tedder or a combined hay-making machine has a tined carrier for redepositing worked crop on the ground and comprises rows of tines which, in operation, are rotated in a forward direction while being turned oppositely over at least part of their path near the ground. The tines, which are located near the ground, extend horizontally and in a forward direction with respect to the direction of machine movement. The carrier preferably mounts three rows of elongated tines that are each shaped as a lazy S and pointed at each end. A sun wheel and planet gear system drives the carrier as a whole while turning the tines to pick up crop, raise and deposit same to the rear of the carrier. The orientation of the tines can be adjusted by displacing the sun wheel relative to the frame and fixing same in position. A crop crusher is mounted adjacent the paths of the tines and spring means urges the crusher to adjusted positions in which crop is intersepted and worked further.

Abstract: A self propelled disk harrow having four gangs of disc members attached thereto which are rotated to propel the disk harrow and to thereby till the soil. Wheels are provided for allowing the disk harrow to travel on public roads and to aid in propelling the disk harrow. When the disc members extend too far into the soil or otherwise become ineffective in propelling the disk harrow, such as because of wet or sandy soil, the weight of the disk harrow transfers to the wheels and the wheels tend to primarily propel the disk harrow.

Abstract: A cultivator or rotary harrow has tined soil working members that are driven about upwardly extending axes. At least one, but preferably substantially all, of the soil working members have an overload release between the driving system and the tines so that when an immovable object is encountered by a tine, the drive to the respective soil working member is temporarily disconnected. The release can be between two parts that are normally spring biased together to maintain the driving engagement to the soil working member. In one form, a pinion gear to the soil working member has an outer toothed portion that can rotate relative to a central portion that is connected to the rotary shaft mounting the soil working member. Ball members in channels formed in the central portion are biased radially into recesses of the toothed portion. In another form, ball members are biased radially to engage the soil working member to its corresponding rotary shaft. Also, the upper end of the rotary shaft can be secured to a pinion by a split ring held in a spacing sleeve. The lower shaft end can be attached to a tine support and normally connected for rotation by a lower part that is fitted in a recessed part in the bottom of the support and spring biased in the recess. Upon a tine striking an immovable object, the parts ride out of engagement, but the parts reconnect upon passing the object.
