摘要： A latch mechanism for a vehicle, e.g., a snowmobile, includes a latch and a base. The latch is resiliently coupled to the base using a resilient member, for example, a ring-shaped member. The latch is movable, e.g., pivotable, between first and second stable positions. In the first stable position, the latch can be inserted through an aperture in the base, and in the second stable position, the latch can be moved or pivoted to secure the base with respect to the latch. The base may be attached to a cover member for an engine compartment of the vehicle. In the second stable position, a tab of the latch engages against a first engageable surface of the base, and portion of the latch opposite the tab includes a second engagement surface that cooperates with a second engageable surface provided on the base.

摘要： A multi-position door security system that provides a primary locked position keeping a closed door secure and also providing varying degrees of secure openings to allow a user to see outside or accept envelopes and packages through an opening. The invention is formed of a cable and a locking bracket which is attached to the frame of the house. The cable is looped and secured around a door knob and is then passed through one or two keyway openings in the locking bracket. One or more locking fitting are rigidly attached to the cable. The locking fittings are sized such that they do not fit through the openings of the locking bracket. This allows the user to choose how far the door will open by choosing which of the locking fittings engage the locking bracket. The invention also allows for easy disengagement by the user in case of fire or emergency. Because of the design and materials used in construction, the invention is secure, economical and easy to install. The present invention is used to secure swinging and sliding doors.

摘要： A safety cable locking device for a knob-operated door mounted in a door frame including a framing stud. The device comprises an anchor member, a wire plastic covered cable, a lag bolt and a bushing. The anchor member contains the bushing and is fastened to a door frame framing stud by the lag bolt which passes through a hole in the anchor member and bushing into the framing stud. The cable ends pass the side of the anchor member through two holes which are located to cooperate with the bushing, causing the cable ends to be angled apart at 15 to 30 degrees. The cable loop is passed over the inside door knob. If the door is pushed open, tension force is put on the cable causing the edges of the anchor member holes to bite into the angled cable, locking the cable in place and preventing the door from being opened further.

摘要： An electronic seal comprises a housing (12), a cord (14) with one end fixed to the housing (12) and a free end which can be passed through a door catch or the like and releasably connected to the housing (12), an electronic circuit within the housing (12) arranged to generate one of a number of unique codes when a switch (70) in the housing (12) is actuated on connection or disconnection of the cord (14) to or from the housing (12) and a display device (18) which can display the unique code. The cord (14) has a series of regularly spaced enlargements (36), and the interior of the housing (12) has a plurality of teeth (40) arranged so that when a length of cord (14) at its free end is inserted into the housing (12) the enlargements (36) can fit between the teeth (40) to hold the cord (14) against withdrawal from the housing (12). A slide (16 ) is movable in the housing (12) between an open position in which the cord (14) can be inserted into and withdrawn from the housing (12) and a locking position in which it retains the enlargements (36) in engagement with the teeth (40). The switch (70) has an actuating member (72) projecting into the space between two of the teeth (40), so that the switch is actuated when the length of cord (14) is moved into or out of engagement with the teeth (40). The fixed end of the cord (14) is connected permanently to the housing (12) by engagement of enlargements (36) on the cord (14) with a further set of teeth in the housing (12). The cord (14) is held in engagement with the further teeth by the slide (16), when the slide (16) is in the open or locking position. The slide (16) is movable from a third position in which the fixed end of the cord (14 ) can be inserted into the housing (12) before the seal is first used, but is then prevented from being moved back to the third position.

The resilient biasing of the striker bar allows the striker bar to deflect when inadvertently struck by a foreign object and, if misalignment has occurred between the striker bar and the latch during mounting, allows the striker bar to deflect self-align and permit engagement.

摘要： The invention is directed to an automatic locking mechanism for a dumpster container having a hinged lid. The elements of the locking mechanism comprise an L-shaped or U-shaped securing member which is attached to one or both sidewalls of the container. The securing member pivots over the lid, and is held in place by a securing mechanism. The securing mechanism fixes the L-shaped or U-shaped securing member in a position that inhibits opening of the container lid. The securing mechanism is autonatically operated by the lifting tines of a trash removal vehicle. The L-shaped or U-shaped locking member automatically swings away from the hinged lid by virtue of a counterweight during container dumping operations, and is returned to a locked configuration when the container is replaced and the lifting tines withdrawn.
