    摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus of reducing current requirements by increasing resistance of the blade structure by reducing the cross sectional area of at least one section of the blade so that the electrical current requirements for heating of the blade to cutting temperature are reduced wherein the power supply and substantially entire unit may be mounted within a hand held unit. Methods of shaping blades to perform various heat distributions for specialty blades for custom cutting are disclosed. Further, an improved blade mounting structure is provided which includes structure for maintaining the legs of the blade parallel to the direction of cut and provides for easy insertion of new blades by maintaining a slotted blade cradle stable and in alignment with the blades and a clamp member away from the blade when the clamp mounting structure is loosened.

An initial opening is formed in the sheet without severing reinforcing cords (20) within the elastomeric sheet by a penetrator/separator (40).     摘要: Tire cutting apparatus comprises first and second tire locating members, a tire cutter on one of the tire locating members and a tire drive. The tire locating members are relatively moveable between a loading position, in which the members are separated to allow location of a tire therebetween and a cutting position, in which the first tire locating member engages an inner surface of a tire and the second tire locating member engages an outer surface of a tire. With the tire locating members in the cutting position the cutter cuts through a portion of the tire between the members and the tire drive effects relative movement of the cutter and the tire to produce a circumferential cut in the tire and thus cut the tire into two separate parts. The cut is preferably located around the tread of the tire such that the two separate halves may be stacked, one inside the other.

First and second vertically extending anvil members are mounted on a base in parallel, spaced-apart relationship to one another. The anvil members include removable female die members. Pivotally joined to the base is a blade member, the blade member also having a replaceable working edge. The blade is driven by a hydraulic ram and when a tire is positioned against the anvil and the ram is actuated, the blade will move into the gap between the spaced-apart anvil members and, in doing so, will sever through the side walls and tread surface of the vehicle tire.

    摘要: Apparatus for cutting a tire into segmented pieces utilizes an even multiple of pairs of shear-cutting blades actuated by a hydraulic cylinder ram. The pairs of blades are arranged in radial symmetry, and each pair of blades comprises an upper blade and a lower blade, both of which have a cutting edge defined thereon, such that each pair of blades operates by action of opposed cutting edges. The lower blade of each pair is affixed to a frame, which may be trailer-mounted for mobility. The upper blade of each pair is affixed to a carriage movable on a track secured to the frame, and oriented with the cutting edge disposed at an acute angle relative to the cutting edge of the lower blade. Diametrically opposing upper blades are disposed at corresponding angles, and adjacent upper blades are disposed at different angles from one to the other. Thus, diametrically opposing pairs of blades function to simultaneously engage a tire for cutting and adjacent pairs of blades operate to sequentially engage the tire for cutting. As a result, less force is required to cut an ordinary automobile tire, or a larger tire may be cut with the apparatus.
