    摘要: A relamping circuit topology to provide a lamping signal in ballast circuits used to power heated filament gas discharge lamps. The relamping circuit includes a low level DC power source, a differential capacitance and a switching device coupled to the differential capacitance. The differential capacitance is configured to produce a relamping signal. The relamping circuit topology also includes an electric current path configured to direct a flow of direct current from the low level DC power supply through a filament of the gas discharge lamp, and to the differential capacitance such that breaking and restoring the electric current path activates the relamping signal.

    摘要: A method of striking a gas discharge lamp involves the steps of generating a high-frequency square-wave voltage having an operating frequency, generating a sinusoidal voltage from the high-frequency square-wave voltage, controlling the operating frequency to a low-end frequency, and increasing the amplitude of the sinusoidal voltage during successive pulse times and then decreasing the amplitude of the sinusoidal voltage towards the low-end amplitude at the end of each of the successive pulse times until the lamp has struck, where the length of each of the successive pulse times being greater than the length of the previous pulse time. A maximum amplitude of the sinusoidal voltage during each pulse time may be greater than a maximum amplitude of the sinusoidal voltage during the previous pulse time.

The filaments are preheated by a preheating current supplied from secondary windings of a preheating transformer, via preheating capacitors. Detection circuits detect DC voltage components of the preheating capacitors. Comparators compare the DC voltage components of the preheating capacitors with a reference voltage. The comparators cause a control circuit to protect the inverter circuit if an abnormality of the filaments is detected.

The protection means includes a sample point for sampling voltage. The protection means deactivates the delegated winding disposed on the transformer for the magnetizing the transformer and stopping oscillation when the sample point reaches a predetermined abnormally high voltage.
