摘要:
In an example embodiment, a waveguide device comprises: a first common waveguide; a polarizer section, the polarizer section including a conductive septum dividing the first common waveguide into a first divided waveguide portion and a second waveguide divided portion; a second waveguide coupled to the first divided waveguide portion of the polarizer section; a third waveguide coupled to the second divided waveguide portion of the polarizer section; and a dielectric insert. The dielectric insert includes a first dielectric portion partially filling the polarizer section. The conductive septum and the dielectric portion convert a signal between a polarized state in the first common waveguide and a first polarization component in the second waveguide and a second polarization component in the third waveguide.

A primary radiator including a waveguide formed by winding a metallic plate into a cylindrical shape and superimposing both ends thereof at a joining portion. Two first flat portions and two second flat portions, extending in the direction of the central axis of the waveguide, are formed so that a first flat portion and a second flat portion alternate at intervals of substantially 90 degrees, thereby forming a total of four flat portions. A dielectric feeder includes a radiator section, an impedance converting section, and a phase converting section. By inserting the dielectric feeder into the inside portion of the waveguide, both side surfaces of the phase converting section are press-fitted/secured to the first flat portions, and both mounting surfaces at the outer peripheral surface of the impedance converting section are press-fitted/secured to the second flat portions, so that the phase converting section intersects at an angle of approximately 45 degrees a probe protruding from the phase converting section in the direction of the central axis of the waveguide.

In an ultrawide-band linear-circular polarization converter, in a noncircular waveguide which has negative-phase characteristics in which a phase gradually decreases in accordance with an increase in a frequency over an ultrawide-band frequency range, a dielectric structure which has positive-phase characteristics, in which a phase gradually increases in accordance with an increase in a frequency, having a complementary relationship with the negative-phase characteristics in the ultrawide-band frequency range is provided.

A circular polarizer includes a low frequency band waveguide (fL), a high frequency band waveguide (fH) formed at the inner side of the low frequency band waveguide (fL) in a coaxial structure, and a dielectric member provided to abut against the inner side of the low frequency band waveguide (fL) and the outer side of the high frequency band waveguide (fH), and inclined by 45° with respect to a linear plane of polarization. Since the dielectric member is provided at an angle of 45° with respect to the linear plane of polarization, the delay of the phase of the electric field passing through the dielectric member becomes greater than the phase of the electric field orthogonal to the dielectric member, whereby a circularly polarized wave can be converted into a linearly polarized wave. Since the dielectric member can be formed by a mold, a circular polarizer that is economic and fit for mass production can be provided. Adjustment of the phase characteristics and the like is no longer required since the shape of the dielectric member can be determined by experiments.

A circular-linear polarizer includes a waveguide and a one quarter wave length plate which is installed on the inside wall of the waveguide. The surfaces of the waveguide and the one-quarter wave length plate forming the junction between them are flat. Alternatively, the one quarter wave length plate has a mounting surface for mounting on the inside wall of the waveguide. The mounting surface has a circular cross section which is complementary to the circular inside cross section of the waveguide. The junction provides improved electrical contact between the waveguide and the one-quarter wavelength plate. In addition, the cross polarization and axial ratio of the waveguide are improved while maintaining good impedance characteristics.
